One of the most meaningful lessons shared during We Are Still Here was beautifully simple: community comes first.

This core Lenape belief system reminds us that we do not exist only for ourselves. We belong to families, we belong to communities, and caring for one another strengthens us all.

As we look back at the faces from this extraordinary day — children, parents, elders, neighbors and new friends — perhaps that is the lesson worth carrying forward.

We Are Still Here. And what an afternoon it was.

A packed house with generations learning together.
Stories shared and Culture celebrated.

Thank you to our informative presenters and the incredible Red Blanket singers & dancers bringing Indigenous traditions to life through movement, music and dance.

More than 100 community members joined us at the Burlington Quaker Meeting House to learn about Lenape and Indigenous history, explore museum artifacts, hear directly from tribal leaders, and experience both traditional and contemporary Indigenous dance.

Thank you to everyone who came with open hearts, curious minds and a willingness to listen and learn.

Join us for an inspiring evening of reflection, dialogue, and community as the Burlington Quaker Meeting House welcomes Rev. Dr. Robert Turner—pastor, author, national reparations advocate, and commissioner with the National African American Reparations Commission.

Dr. Turner is widely recognized for his work on reparatory justice and his monthly 40 Miles for Justice walks from Baltimore to Washington, D.C., calling attention to the ongoing pursuit of repair and reconciliation.

His presentation, "Creating a Culture of Repair," invites us to consider how truth, history, healing, and justice can help shape stronger communities for generations to come.

💡 "I had no idea..."

Those five words were repeated throughout the day as visitors explored The Future Has a History: From Artifacts to Algorithms.

From life-changing inventions and groundbreaking patents to the untold stories behind them, attendees experienced dozens of moments that challenged assumptions and expanded perspectives.

Check out this reel as it captured some of the most memorable "aha" moments shared by visitors as they discovered how Black inventors and innovators have helped shape the world we live in today.

Thank you to everyone who attended, shared their insights, asked questions, and helped make this exhibit such a meaningful community experience.
