⚡ “Holy Spirit, fill my battery today.” ⚡

Are you running on an empty battery? Feeling disconnected, overwhelmed, or worn thin? Pentecost reminds us that we do not have to rely on our own strength alone. God’s Holy Spirit is the ultimate source of power, connection, courage, and hope.

This weekend, we’ll explore how the Spirit acts like a “universal charger,” connecting people across every barrier and filling us with new life for the journey ahead.

Come worship, pray, and recharge together as a community of faith! This Pentecost weekend, join us as we celebrate the gift of the Holy Spirit—the power that connects, renews, and sends us out in love!

🔥 Worship Service:

What’s scarier than a Stephen King novel? 👻
If you’re a horror fan, you know the rush of a good scare. But this week, we’re looking at what might be the most "terrifying" sentence ever written—and it isn't in a book, it's in the Gospel: “If you love me, you will keep my commandments.”
It’s a line that forces us to look in the mirror. But the good news? We aren’t "on our own" like a mayor with a blank speech or a musician who forgot the lyrics. Join us as we talk about the Holy Spirit—our Advocate who whispers the truth in our ears and stands beside us when the test gets tough.
Join us at any of the three weekend services:

📍 English Settlement UMC: Sunday @ 9:00 AM
📍 Burlington UMC: Saturday @ 5:00 PM & Sunday @ 10:30 AM

Come find out why that "scary" sentence is actually the best news we’ve ever heard.

We’ve been calling him by the wrong name for 2,000 years. 🏷️
We call him “Doubting Thomas.” We’ve turned his entire legacy into a single word: unbelief.
But if you look closer at the story, Thomas wasn't a failure of faith—he was a model of integrity.
In an age of deepfakes, AI-generated "truth," and conflicting news cycles, who can blame him for wanting to see the scars? He refused to offer a "fake yes." He wanted a faith that could withstand the hard reality of a scarred world.
Before he ever "doubted," Thomas was the one with the grit to say, "Let us also go, that we may die with him" when everyone else was looking for an exit. That isn’t the voice of a skeptic; it’s the voice of a man with fortitude.
This weekend, we’re talking about The Honest Search. 🔍
If you’ve ever felt like your questions make you "less than," or if you’re tired of easy answers that don’t heal real wounds, this service is for you. Like Thomas, let's dare to ask the hard questions until we find the Truth that stands right in front of us.

Christ is risen! He is risen indeed! 🌷
The resurrection is the most transformative moment in history, but the way it was revealed is just as profound as the miracle itself. By choosing Mary Magdalene as the first witness, Jesus made a world-altering statement: the truth of God does not conform to human biases or systems of power.
This Easter at English Settlement United Methodist Church, we are diving into the deeper spiritual challenge of the Resurrection:
• Whose voices do we still struggle to trust?
• How do we live with the courage to speak uncomfortable truths?
• How do we become a community where everyone is heard before they are judged?
The story that started with Mary is now ours to tell—not just in words, but in how we advocate for justice and dignity for all. Join us as we celebrate the victory over death and the reordering of human worth.

The parade is just the beginning. 🌿
Palm Sunday is loud, joyful, and full of "Hosannas!" But it also invites us into a strange tension: the same week that begins with a celebration ends with a cross.
Most of life happens in the "waiting room"—the space between what God has promised and what we can actually see. This Sunday, we’re learning how to hold both joy and uncertainty at the same time. We wave our branches for what He has done, and we stay faithful for what He is still doing.
Join us as we step into Holy Week together. The story isn't finished yet.
