Our Story
Burlington First Church of the Nazarene is part of a rich history of engagement and impact in our community, State, and country through the love of our Savior, Jesus Christ. The building at 100 E. Jefferson St. was built in 1852 through the collaboration of the German Methodist, Unitarian, and Baptist churches, and the members of that church used this facility to make an impact on injustice. They stood in opposition to the “Fugitive Slave Act” and proved faithful by using this building to harbor those fleeing for their freedom. The purpose of this building has been the same from it’s inception. Freedom and Unity for all people. Our message as Nazarenes in Burlington continues that message of Freedom in Christ and Unity through God’s grace and mercy, which is available without exception, to every one.
