What’s the cost?

We often ask what something costs before buying it or wanting to know more about it. Is it worth the cost?

Have you thought about the cost that Jesus paid for us? Was it worth the cost that he paid?

John 3:16 states, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” God loved all of us so much that he was willing to give his only son as a sacrifice for our sins in order to offer each believer everlasting life with him in heaven.

Matthew 26: 36-46 tells us about Jesus and 3 of his disciples going to the Garden of Gethsemane just before his betrayal by Judas and his arrest. While Jesus was praying on his own he said the following: “My Father, if it is possible, may this cup pass from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.” Jesus was willing to do the will of God, even if that meant giving his life. In verses 49-56 of Matthew 26 Jesus explained that everything that was taking place had already been prophesied by the prophets in Isaiah 53.

Jesus could have easily called upon his Father to call legions of angels to fight for him, but he knew that the prophecy made by the prophets was to be fulfilled by him.

In Matthew 27, we can read about the trials and the crucifixion of Jesus. Jesus did not try to plea bargain his way out of the charges brought against him by the Priest, nor did he call upon his Father to send his angels to fix the problems for him. When Pilot offered to let either Jesus or Barabus go free, Jesus could plead with the people, telling how he had healed the sick, raised the dead, and how God had sent him to save his people. Jesus knew the cost of his silence, yet chose to be silent.

In Matthew 27: 46, while Jesus was hanging on the cross, he said: “Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani?” (which means: “My God, My God, why have you forsaken me?”) Jesus had taken on all the sin of the world upon his shoulders, so much so that his Father had to turn away from him. For the first time, Jesus felt alone and separated from God. Yet through all this pain, he knew what he had to do and he knew the cost.

John 19: 30, Jesus said: “It is finished. In Luke 23: 46, he said, “Father, into your hands I commit my Spirit." At that point, Jesus died, but he knew that his death was not permanent. He knew the plan that his Father had, and he knew the cost he had to pay.

Jesus paid a high cost for our salvation, so what will our salvation cost us, what are you willing to pay?

Luke 23: 39-43, we find the 2 thieves talking with Jesus while they hang on the cross. One wanted Jesus to save them from the cross and the other knew he was guilty and was repenting, for what he had done and wanted salvation. Jesus told the second thief that he would have a place in heaven.

Which thief do you relate to? What are you willing to pay for the love of Jesus Christ? Which thief are you?

Romans 10: 13, “Everyone who called on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

Jesus died so that we might live.

Our cost of salvation may seem high at times, but nothing compared to the cost Jesus paid for our salvation, and our relationship with him.

So……What’s the cost???

God is Faithful

What does it mean to be faithful?
According to Random House Dictionary, faithful is defined as: steady in allegiance, loyal, trusted, true to fact, thorough in the performance of their duty, full of faith.

God meets every aspect of the definition and then some. He is loyal, steadfast, reliable and trustworthy. Is there anyone else that is more faithful than God? NO!!

Faithfulness is important for us because it gives us a sense of trust, and confidence and certainty in our relationship with God and with others around us.

Deuteronomy 7: 7-9 tells us that God is faithful to his people because of his love and faithfulness to the oath he swore long ago to the people of Israel. God doesn’t forget the promises that he makes.

1 Thessalonians 5: 24 also reminds us that: “the one who calls you is faithful, and he will do it.” The last part of Psalms 145: 13 again reminds us of this: The Lord is trustworthy in all he promises and faithful in all he does.” All throughout the Old and New Testament, you can find the reminder that God is faithful and will not forget the promises that he made to his people.

Hebrews 13:5 tells us that he won’t leave us nor will he forsake us. In verse 8, it reminds us that “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever.” He never forgets his people, not then, not now and not in the future to come. He is faithful to the end of time.

Faithfulness is also one of the Fruits of the Spirit, as it says in Galatians 5: 22. God wants all his people to be faithful, and each of us has God as a role model as to what it means to be faithful. Could any of us ask for a better role model?

Samuel Saldivar wrote an essay about God’s Faithfulness and said this: The faithfulness of God means God is unchanging in his nature, true to his word, has promised salvation to his people and will keep his promises forever. He is worthy of eternal trust no matter how unlikely his promises seem. Nothing in heaven or on earth can prevent God from accomplishing all that he has promised his people through Jesus Christ. This reliability of God should be a great source of comfort and strength for God’s people as they repeatedly go through trials and suffering.

We cannot fail because he will never fail us.

If God has done what you think he should do - trust him.
If God doesn’t do what you think he should do - trust him.

God is faithful and has a plan for each of us, a plan that we may not understand at the time, but a plan to prosper us, as it states in Jeremiah 29: 11.

Philippians 1: 6: “He that began a good work in you will carry it on to the completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”

God is faithful, yesterday, today and forever. Keep the faith.

Love Your Enemies

From early in the Old Testament, God’s people were commanded to not hate one another but to love. God has always promoted love within his people, he doesn’t want us to have strife and hatred. In Leviticus 19: 17-18 it states: “Do not have a fellow Israelite in your heart. Rebuke your neighbor frankly so you will not share in their guilt. Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against anyone among your people, but love your neighbor as yourself. I am the Lord.”
In Matthew 22: 34-40, a Pharisee, who was an expert in the law, challenged Jesus about which commandment is the greatest. Jesus told him that the first great commandment was to “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.” Jesus went on to say that the second greatest commandment is “Love your neighbor as yourself.” Jesus then said, “All the Law and Prophets hand on these two commandments.”
Again, you find these commandments in Deuteronomy 6: 4-5 and Matthew 5: 43-48. In verse 44 of Matthew 5, it says to “Love Your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.” We are told to love our enemies when all we really want to do is to retaliate and get even with them, but that is not what we are told to do. We are to be nice to them, to bless them and to pray for them.
In the story of the Good Samaritan in Luke 10: 25-37, you read about a Jewish man who had been left on the side of the road, he had been wounded and stripped naked. Both a Priest and a Levite saw him, but did not stop to help, they actually went to the other side of the road to get away from him. Then, a Samaritan came along and saw the man. Samaritans and Jews did not like each other; they actually hated each other. But the Samaritan and did what no one else would do, he stopped to help the man, cared for his wounds, took him to the inn so he could rest and heal.
In John 4: 3-9, 27, you find Jesus at the well with the Samaritan women. Jesus asked for a drink of water and the woman said that Jews do not associate with Samaritans. Here Jesus was not just talking to a Samaritan, but he was talking with a woman. Jesus did not see it that way, he saw a soul that needed help and saving and that was all that was important. Love Your Enemy!
Again, in Mark 12: 28-31, we are told to Love the Lord your God, and to Love your neighbor as yourself as the two greatest commandments.
1 Corinthians 13: 1-8, 13 tells us that nothing is worth anything if we don’t have love. Verse 13 states that the greatest of these things is love!
1 John 4: 7-21 tells that love is from God, verse 16 states that God is love. Therefore, if we don’t love one another, we don’t have God in us. He can’t and won’t live in us if we don’t love. If we live in Love, we live in God and God lives in us!! This is part of what Jesus prayed in John 17: 20-23 was: “My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one–I in them and you in me–so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.”
Remember that to Love the Lord you God and to Love your neighbor, your enemy, is not a simple request, but is the greatest of all the commandments. So, go out and love your enemy!!!

Our Focus

What are you focused on? Negative or Positive
What does God want you to be focused on?
Luke 12: 22-25, 27-31 and Matthew 6: 31-34 tells us not to worry, seek first the kingdom of God. Focus on God’s word and serving God. Walk away from the negative and don’t dwell on it because God will take care of it.
We are overcomers and the salt of the earth. As it says in Matthew 5: 13, we are the salt of the earth and must be sure to not lose our savor, we are to continue to have a distinct positive flavor in the world. Each of us must continue to praise the Lord and show that we, just as Jesus, are overcomers. We won’t let the negative take over and take control. John 16:32-33 shows us that we will have troubles in this world but will overcome and have peace through Jesus Christ.
Revelations 2-3 tells of the rewards and benefits that will come to those who have overcome. There are great things awaiting each of us: authority, not hurt by second death, dressed in white, name not blotted out of the book of life, and better and better things to come. Jesus will acknowledge us to those in heaven, a special anointing, giving us a place of honor and in a place of authority, position and power.
To be able to overcome, we must let go of the past and overcome the hurts that others have set upon us. In Luke 23: 32-38, Jesus was mocked, and insulted while on the cross, but he spoke these words: "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.” If Jesus can forgive, so can we. It might not be easy, but it is possible with the help of Jesus. Anything and everything is possible through prayer. If we don’t forgive, that hurt can become like a festering wound that will continue to get worse if we don’t seek help. Jesus, our Lord and Savior is there waiting for us to reach up and out and ask for help through continuous prayer. Jesus can heal that wound and help us to overcome and grow our relationship with him. We just need to take that first step and let God do the rest.
Be willing to ask God to forgive those who have hurt each of us, and for each of us to turn away from our wicked ways and trust in God.
Let Go and Let God!

WORK OUT YOUR OWN SALVATION

You can’t base your salvation on someone else’s salvation, you need to work out your salvation for yourself.
In Ezekiel 18, it tells that each individual person is responsible before God, that each person will be judged based on their own actions, not of the actions of their parents or family. There is a need for each person to turn away from their wicked ways and habits, and turn back to Jesus. The person must make a 180° turn and come to Jesus, not looking back, because the past is just that, the past, over and done with. You need to look to the future and change your way of thinking and doing.
John 14:6, Jesus stated: “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” Salvation, truth and eternal life are found only through following and giving our life to Jesus.
Matthew 5: 13-15 states that we are the salt and the light of the world. Let God’s light shine before all those around you, Live your life so that people will see the glory of God shining through each of us.
Matthew 5: 43-48 tells us to love our enemies and pray for them. This may not be easy for you to do, but it is what each of us are called to do and can in turn change the heart of your enemy toward the love of God. Even if your enemy doesn’t change, others around you will see that you are willing to show the love of God to all those around you. Also, our focus should be on what God has for us and his commands.
Ask, seek and knock, as it states in Matthew 7:7-8, reminds us that God hears our voice and will provide what each of us needs. Just remember to thank God for everything that he gives to each of us.
Make sure that everything you take in is pure and true, not watered down or changed to be what some want to hear, but make sure it is the truth of the word of God. Check it out in the Bible to make sure it is what God is really telling each of us.
2Timothy 3: 1-5 shows us that there will be those who deny God and will boast only of what they themselves can do, but will give no glory to God for what they have and what they are able to do. We are to have nothing to do with those people, but follow what God has for us.
1 John 5: 12 it states: “Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.” In verses 6-11, it reminds us to not be deceived by what the enemy will say for it may be lies. Make sure that you verify what you listen to and take in, making sure it lines up with the word of God.
Be guided by the word of God, not by what you are told and what you see around you. Remember that you will be held accountable for what you do and the choices that you make. Work out your own salvation. Continue to look forward to what is ahead of you, not what is behind you. Don’t live in your past, but look forward to what God has for you in your future.

ANYTHING WORTH LOVING IS WORTH FIGHTING FOR

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him” John 3: 16-17(NIV)
What greater love is there? A love worth fighting for, a love worth holding onto and a love worth sharing with those around you.
God shares with us a love that is unconditional, we don’t have to show up in our best clothes with our college degrees in order to prove that we are worthy of God’s love, we only need to open up our hearts and let God in, He’ll take care of the rest. God isn’t looking for perfection, He’s looking for an open heart that is willing to be molded into what God has in store for us, our calling. Are you ready to open up your heart and let Him come in?
He wants us to be willing to share His love with those around us. As it is in John 7: 7-21 - God is love and we must show that love by loving one another, we can love others because He first loved us.
With that being said, you must be warned that you may run into trouble, be reassured by John 16: 33, “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” (NIV) You will find in Matthew 4: 1-11 that Jesus was tempted by the devil after he had been fasting for 40 days. In response to the devil Jesus would say, “It is written”. The devil is best beaten with the word of God, the Bible. As it says in Proverbs 4: 23, “you must guard your heart”, and that is best done with the word of God.
The devil will do his best to make his way look better than the way of God, but in reality, it is just an illusion and a distraction to keep us away from the prize that is truly worth fighting for, a love that is worth fighting for. Keep your heart and your thoughts on what is a love truly worth fighting for. 1 Timothy 6: 11-12 states: “But you, man of God, flee from all this, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness. Fight the good fight of the faith.” (NIV) In 2 Timothy 1-8 we are told to be ready to preach the word in season and out of season, in other words, always be prepared to share the word of God with others. Verse 7 states: “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the ground of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day - and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing”. (NIV)
Never give up, your prize may be just around the corner waiting for you. As it states in Galatians 6:9: “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” Never step down, never give up!
Remember that His love is worth fighting for!
Our relationship with God is worth fighting for!
Are you up for the fight?
Would you rather fight than switch?
God has something amazing to share with you and those around you, take the time to love and to fight the battle worth fighting. The prize is worth more than this world could ever offer you, a prize worth more than all the gold medals and fame that the world will offer you.

Day 21

FAITH THAT ENDURES

Our faith-filled life today creates a legacy and blessing for others tomorrow. We can trust God that the faith-filled prayers and actions we plant will come to fruition, whether or not we get to see the harvest in our lifetimes.

Today’s Scripture:
Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. This is what the ancients were commended fo... All these people were still living by faith when they died. They did not receive the things promised; they only saw them and welcomed them from a distance, admitting that they were foreigners and strangers on earth. People who say such things show that they are looking for a country of their own. If they had been thinking of the country they had left, they would have had opportunity to return. Instead, they were longing for a better country—a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for He has prepared a city for them.
—Hebrews 11:1-2; 13-16 (NIV)

Additional Scripture:
—Hebrews 12:1-3
—Lamentations 3:22-29

Reflect on the Word:
True faith is not defined by what it accomplishes today, but by its trust in what is yet to come. Hebrews 11 reminds us that many lived and died by faith without receiving the promises, because
“they were longing for a better country—a heavenly one. Therefore, God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them” (Heb. 11:16, NIV). Today, the church is called to reflect that heavenly city—God’s community formed not by blood or culture, but by faith in Christ.
The cross shows us how to live: “For the joy set before Him, He endured the cross, scorning its shame” (Heb. 12:2, NIV). To follow Jesus is to die to earthly values and run with perseverance, fixing our eyes on what is eternal.
Faith moves us to reflect the character of God’s kingdom on earth. We are not alone. “We are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses” (Heb. 12:1, NIV). We endure because we believe, and we believe because—though from a distance—we see the city God has prepared.
Even as we conclude our 21 days of praying together, our faith continues to lay the path for those who will follow tomorrow. May we, like that great cloud of witnesses, be ever willing to press on
in faith, no matter what may come.

Prayer + Contemplation
1-What promises are you still waiting to be fulfilled? Are you willing to trust God for His perfect timing, whether or not you get to see their fulfillment?
2-Pray that God would give you perseverance to run the race He has prepared for you. Ask Him to help you to always keep your eyes fixed on Jesus.
3-Commit to praying the words of Hebrews 12:1-3 over the church and over your own life as our 21 Days of Prayer + Fasting comes to an end. Pray that we may be people who reflect the heavenly city to a hurting world, come what may.

01/24/2026

Day 20

FAITH THAT SUFFERS WELL

Those who choose to press forward to possess the land through faith may experience suffering and difficulty. The enemy does not want us to win, but God calls us to stay strong in the midst of adversity.

Today’s Scripture:
If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated Me first. If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world.
That is why the world hates you. Remember what I told you: ‘A servant is not greater than his master. ‘If they persecuted Me, they will persecute you also. If they obeyed My teaching, they will obey yours also. They will treat you this way because of My name, for they do not know the One who sent Me. If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not be guilty of sin; but now they have no excuse for their sin. Whoever hates Me hates My Father as well.
—John 15:18-23 (NIV)

Additional Scripture:
—Psalm 126

Reflect on the Word:
Possessing the land by faith is not about escaping suffering but embracing God’s call to walk in faithfulness in the suffering. Jesus was clear: “If the world hates you, remember that it hated Me
first” (John 15:18).
We do not belong to this world. We are strangers and pilgrims on this earth, immigrants of the kingdom, sowers of hope in hard soil.
Suffering faith does not suffer alone. Paul said: “Who is weak, and I do not feel weak? Who is led into sin, and I do not inwardly burn?” (2 Cor. 11:29). This is a testimony of embodied compassion,
aligned with the call of Christ: “Mourn with those who mourn” (Rom. 12:15). This is the law of Christ, fulfilled when “we carry each other’s burdens” (Gal. 6:2).
Psalm 126 speaks of a community united in faith and declares that those who sow with tears will reap with shouts of joy. When we are oppressed, ignored, broken: Our sowing is not in vain. The One who sees in secret will reward in the open (Matt. 6:6).
Our faith is not measured by the world’s applause, but by our steady obedience to God—even in the dark. Today we sow; tomorrow we will sing the harvest.

Prayer + Contemplation:
1-Are you currently experiencing suffering in your own life? How have you grown in your ability to suffer well? Ask God where you might need further growth.
2-Who do you know that is currently experiencing suffering because of their work of faith? Bring them before the Lord and pray that they would not waver or succumb to the enemy.
3-Pray for Christians around the world who are currently suffering because of their faith. Pray that God would give them the strength to remain faithful no matter the circumstances, and that their sufferings would draw others to Christ.
