A note from Nate, our new clergy, who starts in June!
To the Beloved Community at St. John the Divine,
Hi there! My name is Nate Irvine, and I am so excited that the Spirit has opened the doors for us to collaborate together in ministry! As you may have already heard, St. John’s has called me to be the deacon in charge starting June 1. I’ll be ordained to the priesthood on August 29, at which point I’ll be the priest in charge.
Perhaps you’ve been a bit curious about who I am and what I’m about, so I wanted to share a little bit about me: I absolutely love building relationships with people, and I am passionate about creating space for everyone to connect to God and each other. I’m a Canadian from Chicago, which, try not to hold this against me too much, means I’m an avid Cubs fan. I love music, good food, being outside, and being with my wife and son. Danielle and I have been married for 16 years, and our wonderful nine year old is named Judah.
I cannot wait to get to know you! Once I start at St. John’s on June 1, I hope to have a good plan in motion for meeting you all, whether through visitations or coffee chats. In the meantime, know that I’m praying for and thinking of you all, and I cannot wait to pray together on my first official Sunday there, June 7. I hope you can be there!
Until then!
Easter Peace,
Nate+
