The horrors of yesterday were over, but the pain was still there.
His body was entombed, and uncertainty fill the air.
The disciples were fearful that they too would be killed.
Little did they know that scripture was being fulfilled.
They had followed the One called the Christ, leaving all they knew.
Stepping out in faith, they learned day by day new truths.
Putting their hope in Him, they proclaimed Him as the Messiah come.
But now their minds were lost, for they had seen all that was done.
They had witnessed the beatings, the death and knew now where He lay.
Their hearts were shattered by all that had filled their yesterday.
They did not know the wonders awaiting them in the hours to come.
Today, their hearts were filled with sorrow, at the death of God’s Son.
How often we are like them when into the darkness our lives are cast.
We are filled with trepidation of all that has come to pass.
Fear and worry rule our lives, we forget how great God can be.
Our focus is on this day, in between what was and what we cannot see.
Too often we let the trials and tribulations of yesterday rule our day.
The hope and glory of God’s promises are dimmed by yesterday’s ache.
We define our lives based on the past with the expectation of more hurt.
Our faith struggles to find the positive and we wonder at life’s worth.
The day in between the death and resurrection is a time to reflect.
Your hope and trust is tied to the Life that the grave had to reject.
But you cannot see the hope if your focus is yesterday’s pain.
Look to tomorrow, for it promises to be filled with glorious gain.
Stand on God’s love and promise, that He will always be with you.
The coming day will be one of wonders, and glories bold and new.
Death and fear shall be no more for the Lord is leading the way;
Forward into life eternal and out of the darkness of yesterday!
