Friends,

Due to the incoming winter storm and the extreme cold temps tomorrow, Session and I have decided it is best to hold worship on Zoom only. There will be no in-person service or classes at the church tomorrow. We will gather online at our Zoom link at 10:30 for a time of prayer, songs, scripture and Bible study.
Please join us in a spirit of worship in this virtual space.

Stay warm and safe through the storm!
Peace be with you,
Pastor Trina

Join us in worship tomorrow for the fourth Sunday of Advent: Love
We will have special music with violinist Noah Dresser, and following worship we will join the UCC Burlington carolers and spread some Christmas cheer! No coffee hour tomorrow so that we can go directly to the UCC after worship.

Check out this great write up in the Burlington Buzz about the Scouts-led cleanup of the wetlands surrounding the church property! Thank you to Steve Latsis and Kim Lynch, leaders of Troop 103, for coordinating these two days of work; and to Ben Killilea and Mark Vogel of our church who volunteered to help and to open up the church for a place to get warm and enjoy good food!

Despite freezing weather, Burlington scouts logged 84 hours cleaning five acres of wetlands, demonstrating the principle of "Leave No Trace."

Our Advent series, "What do you fear? Insisting on Hope this Advent" invites us to face the fears that we hold within us, and the fears of the world around us, with open eyes and open hearts; finding courage in the words the angels spoke, "Be not afraid; I bring good news!" Come, join us on the journey to Bethlehem once more. Worship every Sunday at 10:30 AM, and on Christmas Eve at 7:00.

Tomorrow, we come to dedicate our pledges and offerings for the coming year, along with our gifts of food or donations to support the Thanksgiving Food Baskets for the Burlington Food Pantry.
We hope you will join us after worship for a potluck lunch in Fellowship Hall and some Christmas crafts for all ages to enjoy!

Remember, this weekend is the Annual In-gathering for Thanksgiving Food Baskets for the Burlington Food Pantry. Please bring the items below with you to church tomorrow, and we will make sure they get delivered to the UCC for sorting and delivery right after worship! Thank you for your support of People Helping People and the Food Pantry! *The most needed item is jars of mayonnaise* in case you are shopping today!

Every can, box, and bag with food supports ’s goal to bring Thanksgiving dinner to Burlington families in need. Bring donations to United Church of Christ, Congregational, 6 Lexington Street. You do not need to be a congregant to support this noble cause! For this food drive, we are specifically requesting Thanksgiving and Food Pantry non-perishable foods. Cub Scouts Pack 555 will be collecting hundreds of pies at Shaw’s, so you can also support the cause by stopping by and buying a pie.
We are requesting that our church and our
neighboring faith communities provide non-
perishable food for the Thanksgiving Dinners. You
may bring these donations on Saturday to the food
drive and items will be taken directly from your car
OR bring your donations to worship on Sunday,
November 23rd. Sorting will take place immediately after service with distribution to follow later in the day.

Remember to change your clocks tonight, or you'll beat the minister to church in the morning!

As you may know, we have a Little Free Library in the driveway in front of our church. Many people in the community regularly stop by to borrow a book, or to donate some that they are ready to pass on to another reader. In light of the impending loss of SNAP benefits, which will impact many neighbors' monthly food budgets, we have dedicated the lower shelf as a "Little Free Pantry," where you can leave what you can, and take what you need. Please see most needed items below, and if you are able to drop off some shelf-stable items this week, we would be most grateful! Share with your neighbors to let people know about this additional resource in the community. And remember to support People Helping People's Burlington Food Pantry as well!
We will continue to collect cereals on the second Sunday of each month (November 9th is the next date to bring cereals to church). Thank you for your support and care for community members!
