Day 3 in KC — Building for what’s ahead. 🔨

On Day 3, we helped build a security fence around the new Reach KC church building. Lots of digging, drilling, hauling, measuring, concrete—and a whole lot of hard work.

Missions doesn’t always look like a meal or a conversation. Sometimes it looks like showing up, putting your hands to work, and meeting a practical need in the community.

It was especially meaningful to work alongside former LG Missions leader, Forrest Taft, who now calls KC home and is part of the Reach KC community.

And after a long day of work, another member of the Reach KC tribe who loaned us power tools surprised us with ice cream.

We came to serve—and found ourselves being served, too.

Day 2 | Kansas City 🤍

Day 2 took us to Nourish KC, where we had the privilege of serving alongside a ministry working to provide food, dignity, and a place of welcome for people experiencing food insecurity.

Our team sorted through food donated by local retailers, stocked the food pantry, and prepared and served a hot lunch. We served meals directly to the tables, creating opportunities not only to meet a practical need, but to sit with people, hear their stories, pray with them, and remind them that they are seen and valued.

That evening, we prepared and served dinner to the men living in the Reach Homes.

And this was more than a meal.

We had the privilege of hearing their stories and listening to testimonies of redemption, restoration, healing, second chances, and new opportunities. Stories that made it impossible to miss the fingerprints of God — taking broken pieces and bringing hope, purpose, and restoration.

Two meals. Two ministries. Countless reminders that the Kingdom of God is built through ordinary acts of service, genuine connection, and people willing to say yes.

Day 1 in Kansas City 🤍

Our first full day in Kansas City started with something simple: Sunday church at Reach KC. And somehow, “going to church” doesn’t quite capture what it felt like to be there.

We worshiped together in the original church building, surrounded by people who were strangers when we walked in—but didn’t feel like strangers for long.

There were hugs.
There was loud, wholehearted praise.
There were testimonies being shared right there in the pews with people we had just met.
There was laughter, conversation, and a genuine sense of “you’re family here.”

After service, we gathered in the fellowship hall for an incredible BBQ lunch, sharing a table with both old friends and brand-new ones. And somewhere between the food, stories, and fellowship, it became really clear that this trip was never just about what we were going to do in Kansas City. It was about the people God was going to connect us to.

Then we got a sneak peek at the new Reach KC building—a glimpse of what God is continuing to build through this church and this community. 🙌

Different people. Different voices. Same Savior.

We came to Kansas City ready to serve, but on our very first day, we were reminded that the body of Christ has a beautiful way of making you feel at home—even miles from your own.

And this was only Day 1. ❤️

Sometimes the moments we step into with hesitation are the ones that stay with us the longest.

While serving in Burundi, Marvin felt the Lord prompting him to listen, to write, and eventually to go.

What began as uncertainty turned into obedience with Marvin choosing to step out, share what God had placed on his heart, and trust the Holy Spirit in the moment.

We’re grateful for the ways God speaks, leads, and meets us when we’re willing to say yes.

During our time in Burundi, our team had the opportunity to help transform an empty classroom at Burundi Dream Academy into a fully functioning library.

From painting murals to building shelves and filling the space with books, this room quickly became a place designed for learning, creativity, and growth.

Today, students have access to resources that support their education and create new opportunities for exploration and discovery.

We’re grateful for the students, teachers, and community who welcomed us—and for each of you whose generosity helped make this possible.

From foundation to feeding hall.

What began with rocks, concrete, and long days of work is now a place filled with children, meals, and joy.

Lifegate family, because of your generosity, this new One Cup a Day feeding hall is now open—serving hundreds of children each day and creating a consistent place of nourishment and community.

During our time in Burundi, our team had the opportunity to visit a local refugee camp and come alongside families in a very tangible way.

We helped distribute essential supplies, spent time with individuals and families, and joined in moments of worship and connection within the community.

These are the moments that remind us that ministry is both meeting practical needs and simply being present.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to serve, to listen, and to witness both the challenges and the joy that exist side by side within this community.
