SUN OCT 25 | A GOSPEL LITURGY | ROMANS 6:12-14

Brought to Life - Now Under Grace
Romans 6:12-14 (esv.org/verses/Romans+6:12-14) shows the logical outworking of being dead to sin and alive in Christ as it pertains to no longer being under the dominion of sin, but rather under grace. This includes Paul’s command to not let sin reign in us or make us obey its passions. Because we are no l longer under sin's dominion but under grace, we are called to live in accordance with the new life God has given us.

The Great Commission isn’t just a calling for those who go to the nations, it’s a responsibility shared by the churches that faithfully equip, send, and support them!

Last week, our GV Staff had the opportunity to attend the Missionary 2026 National Conference, “The Lord Who Sends,” at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.

Throughout the conference, our staff was encouraged and challenged to consider how the local church can more faithfully equip, send, and support missionaries as they take the gospel to every language!

They heard biblical teaching from John Piper, Kevin DeYoung, Mark Dever, Michael Reeves, and others. Breakout sessions featured speakers including Tim Challies, H.B. Charles Jr., and Rosaria Butterfield (ladies breakout). Matt Boswell also led worship before each main session.

An added blessing was running into several of our own GV members who were attending the conference!

We’re grateful for opportunities like this to grow in our understanding of the church’s role in fulfilling the Great Commission. Every believer has a part to play in making Christ known among the nations, whether through praying, giving, going, or sending.

May we continue to be a church that faithfully supports the work of the gospel, both here in our community and around the world, all for the glory of God!

SUN OCT 18 | A GOSPEL LITURGY | ROMANS 6:5-11

United in Christ’s Resurrection: Dead to Sin - Alive in Christ
Romans 6:5-11 (esv.org/verses/Rom6.5-11) Paul continues to reveal the depth of the reign of Christ over all things as it relates to those who have been saved. Verses 1-4 shows the effects of baptism affecting how we are to live. 5-11 shows the hope that we have in God’s promise of the resurrection. Just as Christ was raised from the dead, we can trust that death no longer has dominion - Christ has dominion. Because we have been united with Christ in His death, we will also be united with Him in His resurrection. We have already been made alive to God in Christ, and we look forward to the day when we will be raised bodily, just as He was.
