A Mid-Week Message From Our Sign:
“Prevent Truth Decay. Brush Up On Your Bible.”
Nobody gets tooth decay overnight. It happens when we neglect the daily habits that keep us healthy. A missed brushing here, a missed cleaning there, and over time the damage begins to show.
The same thing can happen in our spiritual lives.
We don’t usually drift away from God’s truth all at once. It often happens little by little. We get busy, skip time in God’s Word, and neglect prayer. Before long, the voices of the world become louder than the voice of God.
That’s why spending time in Scripture is so important. The Bible reminds us who God is, who we are, and how we should live. It encourages us when we’re discouraged, corrects us when we’re wrong, and gives us hope when life seems uncertain.
Psalm 119:105 says,
“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.”
As I reflected on this message, I couldn’t help but think about (Doc) Dr. J.M. Stephenson. He was one of our faithful members. For nearly a century, he lived a life rooted in faith, service, and purpose. From serving his country in World War II to caring for patients in his dental practice and faithfully supporting this church and our community, he demonstrated the value of staying grounded in God’s truth. His legacy—shaped by decades of service, devotion, and steady faithfulness—continues to be felt throughout Cumberland County and to inspire those who knew him.
I appreciate the church member who came up with this sign message. Sometimes God uses a simple church sign to remind us of an important truth.
If it’s been a while since you’ve opened your Bible, today is a great day to start. Read a chapter. Reflect on a verse. Spend a few moments with God.
After all, the best way to prevent truth decay is to brush up on your Bible.
