💸 What if making more money isn’t the thing that finally makes money less stressful?

Money touches almost every part of our lives—what we can do, what we worry about, what we’re preparing for, and sometimes even how we feel about ourselves.

So this month, we’re getting really practical about money through a biblical lens—looking at ancient wisdom from the Bible that still has a lot to say about how we handle money today.

We’ll talk about how to:
• create some breathing room
• stop letting debt steal from tomorrow
• become more generous
• make a plan for the future
• and ultimately make money a tool instead of letting it become our master

Whether you’re doing great financially, barely keeping up, or honestly have no idea where your money goes every month—this series is for you.

We’re making some of the biggest changes we’ve ever made to South Hills Students…and tomorrow night, you’ll hear about them first.

Plus, we’re revealing our brand-new SHS merch! 👀

Vision Night is tomorrow from 6:30 - 8:00pm, and we want to make sure everyone knows: this is not just for new or incoming students. It’s for every SHS student and their parents.

Over the last year, we’ve worked hard to rebuild this ministry and create a place where students feel known, supported, and excited to come every week. Tomorrow, we’ll share our vision for what comes next, introduce what we’ll be teaching this year, reveal several major changes coming to SHS, and make one huge announcement about the future of the ministry.

We’ll also have:

👕 First Dibs on New Merch
👥 An opportunity for parents to meet their student’s small group leader and experience a small group

Leila’s Rooted Story:

“Before Rooted…
I was carrying the weight of the heaviest things in my life on my own. A little over a year ago, my son received a diagnosis that impacted every aspect of my life so profoundly that I hit rock bottom. I was living in despair and anguish. I knew I couldn’t walk alone in that dark time, and so I found God, I started coming to church in December and then got baptized in April and When I heard the new cycle for Rooted was coming up, I had a strong calling to do it.

During my experience in Rooted…
It really grew my personal relationship with God. In this class you can’t help but take a hard look inward and allow yourself to see those parts of you that God wants to heal or help shine again.Rather than just my whole life being taken up with suffering, He showed me that I could carry my suffering in one hand, and my love, joy and peace in the other. The most beautiful part of this is that as we are growing closer to God in this Rooted experience, we are also growing our empathy and compassion for the members of our group who become like family.

Now that I’ve gone through the Rooted Journey…..
I have new friends and a very rich and fulfilling fellowship life with them where we have prayed for one another’s heartaches and life challenges and are building memories with one another. I’ve gotten closer to understanding my spiritual gifts and how I can share them with others. My desire to serve God has grown and I’m following through on it. I also love that I have a community to talk to God about because in my own life I’m surrounded by non-believers both in my own family and at work. I really needed to be able to share with others who would understand how God was working in my life and this has been so special to me. It’s amazing that all of this can come about in just 10 weeks, but it truly has been life-changing and uplifting, and my hope for each of you is that you will experience the depth of God’s love that comes as a result of this Rooted experience.”

Cain heard the voice of God…and still had a decision to make.

That’s uncomfortable, because sometimes we assume that knowing more, praying more, reading more, or showing up to church more automatically means we’re becoming more like Jesus.

But information isn’t the same as transformation.

God can reveal what’s happening in us.
He can confront it.
He can give us truth about it.
He can even give us the power to change.

But we still have to participate.

The Bible gives us truth to apply to our lives—but it doesn’t apply it for us.

So maybe the question isn’t just, “What is God showing me?”

Maybe it’s: “What am I going to do with what He’s showing me?”

The Bible speaks best when we listen to the whole conversation, not just one sentence.

Reading the Bible well means asking better questions: Who was this written to? Why was it said? What comes before and after? Context matters.

We learned this past Sunday it’s important for us to understand what it meant to them then before we can start to learn what it means for us today.

As you read through the Gospel of John this week be sure to ask those important questions.
