On Sunday, we continued our study of John 11, where Jesus resurrects Lazarus after he has been dead and buried for a number of days. Pastor Jay specifically preached on John 11:17-26. It’s in these verses that Jesus says, “I am the resurrection and the life.”

Jesus is many things in this passage; He is a doer, a healer, a prayer-warrior, a promise-maker and a promise-keeper. Yet none of these things make a difference for your life if you do not believe. Jesus has conquered sin and death. He has kept His promises, but do you trust Him?

If you do not believe and receive His saving grace, then you will not be saved. Romans 10:9-10 says, “that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.” Today is the day to believe!

On Sunday morning, we kicked off the Festival of the Resurrection by continuing our study of John. In John 11:1-16, we read of Lazarus' death. Since we have the completed retelling of this event, we know that Lazarus will be resurrected. Yet, when the disciples and Lazarus' sisters see how Jesus operates knowing Lazarus will die, they have a hard time trusting in God's plan. They don't know the end of the story.

This event in Jesus' ministry shows us how faithful God is to fulfill His purposes, how trustworthy God's plan is over our own, how powerful Jesus is to resurrect. We know that nothing can thwart God's plan for Lazarus' resurrection and, more importantly, Christ's resurrection. So believer, will you trust the Lord amidst temptation, fear, and the circumstances of the world today? Will you trust God's plan is perfect?

During the Festival of the Resurrection, the elders would like to encourage our church to participate in fasting. Pastor Jay explains what the spiritual discipline of fasting could look like for you. Whether you decide to fast or not, we request that you keep your fasting private from others. We also recommend consulting a medical professional to see whether food fasting is advisable for you.

If you'd like to know more about what the Bible says about fasting, check out the resources we've linked on our Easter webpage. You'll also find more details about the Festival of the Resurrection there.

On Sunday morning, Pastor Jay took us through John 10:32-42 giving us three proofs that Jesus is the Son of God. He was sanctified and sent by the Father, He had all authority and power to do the works of the Father, and He fulfilled the prophecies by John the Baptist, the Messiah's forerunner. While some of the Jewish leaders accused Jesus of blasphemy, these three proofs provide assurance that Jesus is the Christ.

May we not be like the religious leaders who chose not to believe in these three proofs, but place our confidence in Christ.

During our Missions Conference, we focused on the theme of Making His Glory Known. From examining Matthew 28:16-20 and Habakkuk 2:14, we know we can have great confidence in God’s sovereign plan and the mission He calls us to—that mission to make disciples of all nations.

Watch two of our missionaries share about the call that God has placed on every believer’s life, starting with their personal testimony and ending with encouragement to us to be faithful in evangelizing the lost!

On Sunday, guest speaker H.B. Charles Jr, taught out of Matthew 28:16-20. In this passage, Jesus commissions all believers to make disciples of all nations. Every believer can have great confidence as they obey this mission because of Christ. Christ has ALL authority over Heaven and earth. Christ is always with us. With that in mind, we boldly obey the mission that God has placed on the life of every believer, to make disciples. Whether we are called across the globe or across the room we're, we have the task to share the gospel with the people around us.
