RELINQUISHING THE WEIGHT WE CARRY
By Grigor Diran Avagyan

By the famous Hollywood Sign, there is a 3.5-mile paved trail known as the Lake Hollywood Loop. It is a scenic trail around a water reservoir that attracts many runners and people committed to a healthy lifestyle. One thing I recently noticed is that some people wear weighted vests while they run. For a beginner like me, still building resilience and stamina, it is fascinating to see more seasoned runners carrying extra weight as they make their way around the loop under the Los Angeles sun.

“It must be heavy,” I said to one of my runner friends.

“It is heavy,” he replied, “but boy, once you remove the vest, you can’t imagine how light you feel. You feel like a feather carried by the wind.”

We all carry weight on our shoulders, visible or invisible. Often, we carry it silently: pain, sorrow, suffering, shame, guilt, and stigma. Others may or may not notice the burdens we bear, but we know their weight and feel the toll they take on us. We hide our tears and sweat and keep pushing, believing it is simply our cross to carry.

What we often fail to realize is that some of the baggage we carry is not even ours, burdens we never chose and wounds we never consented to bear.

The moment we acknowledge this, we feel relieved. We become lighter and freer. We begin to relinquish what was never meant for us to carry.

May God grant us the grace and self-awareness to discern what truly belongs to us and what does not, and the courage to surrender the rest to Him, who bore our sins and our burdens on the cross. For He did not create us to live crushed by unnecessary weight, but to live freely, lifted by His grace.

THE NUDGE WE NEED
by Grigor Diran Avagyan

There is a unique co-working space in Tokyo called Manuscript Writing Café, commonly known as Deadline Café. It is specifically for those with active deadlines and struggling with procrastination. Besides offering unlimited Wi-Fi, coffee, and tea, the café features staff monitoring to ensure customers stay on task until their goals are met. Customers choose the level of accountability they want from the staff: mild check-ins, normal reminders, or hard mode, where staff actively stand over their shoulders to monitor progress and do not permit them to leave until the work is completed.

Whether we are dealing with procrastination, mood swings, harmful habits, or other life challenges that hinder us from being our best version, we too often need a gentle nudge and a kind reminder to stay focused and goal-oriented. God sends those reminders in different ways, through people or circumstances, sometimes in the form of a mild check-in and at other times through a hard push.

It is human to resist at times, to turn a deaf ear, or to think that God is “too harsh.” In those moments, we must remember that God knows our potential and desires for us to realize it fully. He invites us to be faithful stewards of our time and to live responsibly without overstretching our capacity. He knows what we are capable of and desires us to thrive.

If we are committed to our calling, let us remain attentive to the cues and reminders God places along our path so that we may move forward with responsibility and accountability.

Dear family and friends,
Yesterday I realized that life's greatest blessing is not the years we live, but the hearts that remember us with love.
Your messages were more then birthday wishes, they were light, kindness, and blessings to my soul.
Thank you for love, prayers, and warm words.
May God bless you and your families always.
With love and gratitude
Fr. Khajag
