First Christian Church of Burbank

First Christian Church of Burbank A Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) Congregation. Theologically progressive and welcoming. We encourage members and visitors to live and active faith.

Open and Affirming

We believe every person is created in the image of God. At First Christian Church of Burbank you are welcome to be who you are, to love who you love, and explore your beliefs at your own pace. We are called to be a community for people of all ethnicities, all ages, all sexual orientations, all gender identities, all abilities, and all economic statuses. The way we use our space

, the individuals we invite to participate in the life and conversation of our church, and our on-going relationships with others who work for justice and peace, are rooted in this understanding. Community Focused

Jesus invited us to love God and to love our neighbor. First Christian Church partners with a number of non-profits in the area to address food insecurity, economic inequality, and the “isms” that inflict violence on God’s children. First Christian Church has a strong presence in the community whether we are preparing lunch bags for Burbank Temporary Aid Center, organizing Burbank Pride, building homes with Project Mercy, or collaborating with other organizations. Faith and Reason

We are not afraid to ask the difficult questions. We believe the Bible is our sacred text and provides a beginning point for our exploration of faith. We also look to science, reason, and the wisdom of other traditions, as we seek to live out our faith. We do not shy away from the issues of the day and we encourage honest dialogue that helps us live more fully into the faith that lives within us - and among us. We live this out through worship, study, and small groups. Commitment to Children and Youth

We are committed to supporting parents in the spiritual development of their children. It is our hope that programs for children, youth, and families will reflect our other values. It is abundantly clear that we begin with a faith that is welcoming, inclusive, and affirming of all people. That is no different for our children and youth. The active involvement of children and youth is affirmed during Sunday morning worship, Zoom game nights, seasonal gatherings, and volunteer opportunities.
