Sharing this historical remembrance from Tom Shaw on what is the official 153rd anniversary of the organization of Flat Branch Presbyterian Church.

We will celebrate homecoming on October 11, 2026 at 11am.

145 years ago today, October 3, 1873, a group met at the Flat Branch School and organized Flat Branch Presbyterian Church. There were 23 charter members whose membership was moved from Barbecue, Tirza (Summerville) and China Grove (no longer in existence off McCormick Bridge Rd. by the Lower Little River) Presbyterian Churches. The world was a different place and life much more simple. The church was the center of religious, social and cultural life. Even with human frailties, the biblical principles were paramount. Over these 145 years, the world we live in has changed. We all “have fallen short” but God is the same. The Westminster Catechism says, “God is a spirit, infinite, eternal and unchangeable, in His being, wisdom, power, holiness, justice, goodness, and truth.” This is something many today seemed to have forgotten or never learned. Flat Branch along with many other places seeks to spread this message and the message of salvation, through Jesus.

When you are working and can’t make it to church cleanup day, you make time to help out later. We are grateful.

Our multi-phase bathroom project is now complete with the decorating of the Narthex.

Our new historical room project is complete. Since we subdivided our huge nursery to make this happen, we chose to keep some of the nursery walls intact as a part of our history. See if you can spot the touches.
