Devotional: Living for God's Approval

“For we do not commend ourselves again to you, but give you opportunity to boast on our behalf, that you may have an answer for those who boast in appearance and not in heart.” — 2 Corinthians 5:12 (NKJV)

Paul reminds the Corinthians that true spirituality is not measured by outward appearance but by the condition of the heart. In his day, there were people who promoted themselves through impressive credentials, eloquent speech, and public recognition. Paul, however, pointed believers to a deeper standard—God sees beyond what others can see.

It is easy to fall into the trap of seeking approval from people. We can become more concerned about how we appear than who we really are before God. Yet the Lord is not impressed by image, reputation, or performance. He looks at our motives, our faithfulness, and our love for Him.

As followers of Christ, our goal is not self-promotion but Christ-exaltation. When our hearts are surrendered to Him, our lives become a testimony that speaks louder than outward appearances ever could. Integrity before God matters far more than applause from people.

Reflection: Are you more focused on how others see you or on who you are before God?

Prayer:
Father, help me to live with a sincere heart before You. Keep me from seeking the praise of people and teach me to value what You value. Let my life reflect genuine faith and devotion to Christ. In Jesus' Mighty Name, Amen!

Scripture of the Day:

Blessed is the man Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful; But his delight is in the law of the LORD, And in His law he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree Planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper. - Psalm 1:1-3 NKJV

Devotional — “Arise, Let Us Go From Here”

“But that the world may know that I love the Father, and as the Father gave Me commandment, so I do. Arise, let us go from here.” — John 14:31 (NKJV)

Jesus closes this section with a powerful declaration of love and obedience. He makes it clear that everything He is about to endure—the betrayal, the suffering, the cross—is not a sign of weakness, but an expression of love for the Father and obedience to His will.

“That the world may know that I love the Father…”
Jesus shows His love not merely in words, but in surrender. His obedience reveals the depth of His devotion. The cross was not forced upon Him; He embraced it out of love.

Then He says, “Arise, let us go from here.”
This simple phrase marks a shift—Jesus is stepping forward into the path the Father prepared. It is a call to movement, courage, and resolve. He rises, knowing what awaits Him, yet He walks forward in perfect trust.

This verse reminds us that love and obedience go hand in hand—and that sometimes following God means rising, stepping forward, and trusting Him even when the road is difficult.

Reflection
Where is God calling you to “arise” in this season?
Is there an area where obedience feels challenging or costly?

Think about Jesus’ example:
He obeyed out of love, not obligation.
He moved forward with confidence because He trusted the Father completely.

What step of faith is Jesus inviting you to take today in love and obedience?

Prayer
Lord Jesus, thank You for showing perfect love through perfect obedience. Help me follow Your example. Give me the courage to arise and step forward in the areas You are calling me to obey. Strengthen my heart to love You and the Father with my actions, not only my words. Lead me in Your will. Amen.

Thought for the Day: Loving God means rising with courage and walking in obedience.

Devotional — “The Ruler of This World Is Coming”

“I will no longer talk much with you, for the ruler of this world is coming, and he has nothing in Me.” — John 14:30 (NKJV)

Jesus prepares His disciples for the approaching hour of His arrest and crucifixion. He tells them that “the ruler of this world”—Satan—is moving against Him. Yet Jesus makes a powerful declaration:
“He has nothing in Me.”

Satan would attack, but he would find no foothold,
no sin,
no guilt,
no weakness,
no claim over Christ.

Jesus goes to the cross not as a defeated victim, but as the spotless Lamb of God—undefiled, unclaimed by darkness, perfectly righteous.

The enemy could not rule Him.
The enemy could not stain Him.
The enemy could not hold Him.

This verse reminds us that even when spiritual battles intensify, Jesus stands in absolute authority. He faced the enemy so we could walk in victory. And because we are in Him, the enemy has no rightful claim over us either—our identity is secured in Christ.

Reflection
Where do you feel spiritual pressure, heaviness, or attack?
Remember: the One who lives in you is sinless, powerful, victorious—and the enemy has no rightful hold on Him or on those who belong to Him.

Are you standing in Christ’s victory, or trying to fight in your own strength?

Consider how this truth can reshape how you face spiritual battles:
The enemy has nothing in Jesus—and you are in Him.

Prayer
Lord Jesus, thank You for Your perfect victory over the enemy. Thank You that he had nothing in You—and because I belong to You, he has no claim on my life. Strengthen me to stand firm in Your righteousness and Your authority. Help me walk in confidence, knowing You have already overcome. Amen.

Thought for the Day: The enemy has no claim on those who belong to the victorious Christ.

Devotional — “So You May Believe”

“And now I have told you before it comes, that when it does come to pass, you may believe.” — John 14:29 (NKJV)

Jesus prepares His disciples by telling them what will happen before it happens. His purpose is not to overwhelm them—but to strengthen them.
When His words come to pass, their faith will not crumble but grow.

This is the heart of God:
He speaks ahead of time so that when the storm hits, trust remains.
He gives promises before pain, truth before trial, and hope before hardship.

Jesus wants His followers to know:
“I am not caught off guard by what is coming—
and neither will you be, if you hold onto My words.”

Every fulfilled promise becomes a foundation for deeper faith.
Every word that proves true is a reminder that Jesus can always be trusted.
He prepares us not for fear, but for belief.

There is comfort in knowing that nothing surprises God—and He equips His people long before the moment of testing arrives.

Reflection
Look back over your life:
Has there been a time when something God showed you beforehand—or a Scripture you read—became exactly what you needed later?

Where might Jesus be preparing your heart today for something ahead—through His Word, His guidance, or His quiet leading?

Ask yourself:
Am I paying attention to what Jesus is telling me now so I can stand firm later?

Prayer
Lord Jesus, thank You for preparing me through Your Word. Help me listen closely when You speak, so that when things come to pass, my faith will be strengthened, not shaken. Teach me to trust every promise You give and to walk forward with confidence. Amen.

Thought for the Day: What Jesus tells you now will strengthen your faith later.

Devotional — “If You Loved Me, You Would Rejoice”

“You have heard Me say to you, ‘I am going away and coming back to you.’ If you loved Me, you would rejoice because I said, ‘I am going to the Father,’ for My Father is greater than I.” — John 14:28 (NKJV)

Jesus gently challenges His disciples’ perspective. They are saddened by the thought of His departure, but He tells them that if they truly understood, they would rejoice, not grieve. Why?

Because Jesus returning to the Father means:
• His mission is fulfilled.
• His glory is restored.
• His victory is secured.
• The way to the Father is opened for us.

Jesus isn’t minimizing their sorrow—He is expanding their perspective. He wants them to see His departure not as a loss, but as a divine triumph that will bring blessing, salvation, and the outpouring of the Holy Spirit.

There are moments in our lives when God’s plans don’t look like gain—they look like loss. Yet Jesus invites us to trust that God’s purposes are always good, even when they stretch us beyond our comfort.

Rejoicing is not always natural—but when we see God’s larger plan, it becomes possible.

Reflection
Where in your life are you grieving something that God may be transforming for good?
Are there areas where your perspective needs to shift from fear to trust… from loss to God’s larger plan?

Ask yourself:
Can I rejoice in what God is doing, even when I don’t fully understand it?

Let Jesus’ words guide you to a deeper confidence in the Father’s wisdom and love.

Prayer
Father, help me trust Your plans even when they don’t make sense at first. Give me the grace to rejoice in Your will and Your wisdom. Jesus, thank You for returning to the Father to complete Your work and open the way for my salvation. Increase my faith and broaden my perspective. Amen.

Thought for the Day: When you see God’s plan, even painful moments can become cause for rejoicing.
