St. Paul Lutheran Church of Bulverde, Texas

St. Paul Lutheran Church of Bulverde, Texas Faithfully rooted since 1901 Come and meet Him, be transformed by His love, and step into the mission He has for you in this world!

St Paul is a church with deep roots in our community (since 1901!) but eyes firmly fixed on the mission of Jesus Christ as he leads us into the future. We are committed to following Jesus as our "north star", trusting the Scripture as the compass for our souls, and inviting everybody on board as we sail into the uncharted waters of this world. We believe the transforming love of Jesus is contagiou

s and undeniable, and we want everybody who encounters our church (whether in our building or out in the community) to get a taste of His love for them. Whether you are new to Jesus, are returning to Him after a long time away, or have been following him for years, our Red Roof Church has a place for you. Our Worship Schedule*

If you're looking for a church home, we encourage you to visit us this Sunday. We have two services and a variety of Sunday School (Christian Education) classes available.

8:30 a.m. - Traditional Service
9:40 a.m. - Christian Education (all ages)
10:45 a.m. - Modern Worship Service

Holy Communion is given every Sunday at both our services, and the Communion Table is open to all who believe in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. The early service (8:30am) is located in the sanctuary and features the more traditional Lutheran forms of worship, including sacred music and some liturgy. The late service (10:45am) is located in the Christian Faith Center (CFC) and features modern worship music and a less structured form. Please join us for the service that resonates with your heart. Our address and a map are located on the Directions page. Sunday school classes begin at 9:40 a.m. for all ages, and take place in various classrooms throughout the church campus. We love new members, and we're happy to see visitors join us each week. Our
members are friendly and will do whatever it takes to make you feel at home.

Hey friends, I’m switching up the usual informational posts for a deep thought from writer Brett McCracken. He is talking about the upcoming movie “The Story Of Everything”, which is a beautifully done documentary showing all the ways science actually points toward the existence of God rather than the opposite. Take a moment to read this quote and follow the link for the whole article.

“There are two paths for science: Seek to understand and marvel at God’s reality, or seek to overcome it and get burned.

I pray that many Christian young people today will pursue the former path—the God-honoring science modeled by Galileo, Kepler, Pascal, and Newton that enhanced theology and never sought to replace it. I pray that kids today will find heroic the sort of science modeled by Artemis II pilot Victor Glover, who recently led humans deeper into space than they’d ever gone.

Glover is a scientist at the top of his field but also an outspoken Christian who speaks of “the beauty of creation” rather than a random nature. His faith even seems to have rubbed off on his nonreligious coastronauts.

Glover’s impromptu Easter dispatch from space (in an interview with CBS News) captures what The Story of Everything also conveys.

Our planet is privileged, unique—one might say, graced. The perspective from space underscores it:

‘You guys are talking to us because we’re in a spaceship really far from Earth, but you’re on a spaceship called Earth that was created to give us a place to live in the universe, in the cosmos. . . . In all of this emptiness—this is a whole bunch of nothing, this thing we call the universe—you have this oasis, this beautiful place that we get to exist [in] together.’

I love the image of an oasis. In the vast, cold darkness of the cosmos, we’ve been given a vibrant home, Earth, that isn’t only bountiful but beautiful. And the more we learn about our home—including our bodies within it—the more it feels less like a random wilderness and more like a master-planned garden. Less like an empty void and more like Eden.” - Brett McCracken

We are excited for Discover St Paul on Sunday after second service! We will be having a short history lesson about the roots of St Paul, some information about our affiliation with LCMC, a short look at what it means to be a Lutheran (Hint: Low Bar, High Richness!) and an exploration of our Vision/Mission and where we are going as a church.

Fajitas from Ay Chiwawa will be provided for lunch, and we'll have some easy next steps available for everybody.

It will be informal, relaxed, and interactive, so come ready to eat, hang out, and get to know your church community!

Childcare is provided, so you can bring little ones too.

Can't wait to see you!

Friends join us for our Good Friday experience today at 12 or tonight at 7!

We will be walking through the 7 last words of Jesus on the cross, singing hymns, and hearing original pieces that Glenn composed for each word. It’s going to be a deep and moving time of meditation and reflection. We’d love to see you there!

Dear St Paul,

Many of you have likely heard by now about the terrible school shooting that took place just down the road from us today at Hill Country College Preparatory High School. The shooter who was a student is dead and a beloved teacher has been hospitalized. Our entire community is feeling the weight of this moment.

In times like this, our first response is always prayer.

“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea.” - Psalm 46:1-2

We pray for the teacher who is still in the hospital, that the Lord would bring healing, strength, and peace, wisdom to the doctors, and miraculous intervention.

We pray for the students, families, and staff who are processing what they experienced today, including the family of the young man who carried out this senseless act.

We grieve alongside those who grieve.

I also want you to know that we take the safety of our congregation seriously. This is something we have given careful thought and attention to over time. Jeff Francis has done excellent work organizing a security team, and we are grateful to have the new support of Comal County Sheriff’s deputies, along with Officer Clish, on the weekends.

During the week, we want to keep doors secured so that entry is directed through the front office. This includes our Christian Day School, as we seek to maintain a safe and controlled environment for our children and staff. Please do your best to help us with that along the way.

The world has never been a safe place. And we are not passive in the face of that reality. We are attentive, we are prepared, and we are prayerful.

If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

In Christ,
Pastor Luke
