A PROVERB WORD for you today.
Proverbs 4:20-27.
20: “My child, pay attention to what I say. Listen carefully to my words.”
21: “Don’t lose sight of them. Let them pe*****te deep into your heart…”
22: “…for they bring life to those who find them, and healing to their whole body.”
23: “Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.”
24: “Avoid all perverse talk; stay away from corrupt speech.”
25: “Look straight ahead, and fix your eyes on what lies before you. “
26: “Mark out a straight path for your feet; stay on the safe path..”
27: “Don’t get sidetracked; keep your feet from following evil.”

This is YOUR job!
These are Solomon’s words.
The word “heart” rarely refers to the organ. It refers to your inner being—the seat of your concsciousness, your very core of decision making.

Your “heart” is the center of your mind, your emotions, your will.

You have the responsibility to guard your inner self from the enemy.

Solomon considered this a matter of life & death. V. 22.

V.23a: What we must do.
V.23b: Why we must do it!
V.24-27: How we can do it!

A bit of food for your Saturday.
Be blessed & have a grace filled day.

WORD for your Thursday.
Day 41 Challenge.
FINAL DAY OF—
Rick Warren’s Book
“The Purpose Driven Life”

RECAP of:
“What on Earth am I Here For”
We are here to live:
“A Journey with Purpose.”
It is a spiritual journey.

After 40 days of this study—
Have YOU discovered God’s purpose for your life?

Ephesians 1:11. The Message.
“It’s in Christ that we find out who we are and what we are living for. Long before we first heard of Christ…He has His eye on us, had designs on us for glorious living, part of the overall purpose He is working out in everything and everyone.”

God longs for YOU to discover the life He created for YOU to live.

We must begin with God. He created us BY His purpose & FOR HIS purpose.

The WRONG starting point is—
Ourselves—YOU!

It all starts with God & His Word.
The Scriptures.
Here are the six purposes He created for YOU.
1: What on Earth am I Here For?
It’s not about YOU.
Ask yourself what that means to YOU.
What is the driving force in your life today? For most people, it is Drama!

Do YOU really understand that this life is really preparing us for eternity? Most people don’t give that the first thought.

What keeps YOU from living for God’s purposes for Your life?

What are YOU attached to that keeps YOU from living for God’s purposes for YOU?

2: You Were Planned for God’s Pleasure.

How is living your whole life for God’s pleasure different from the way most people understand worship?

How is a friendship with God any different than any other friendship?

What fears rise up in YOU when YOU think of surrendering your complete life to Jesus Christ?

3: You Were Formed for God’s Family.

How is being as committed to each other as we are to Christ different from the way most people understand “fellowship”?

What are the barriers that keep YOU from loving & caring for other believers?

Are YOU afraid to share your hurts, fears, needs—with others?

Is there anyone YOU need to restore a relationship with?

4: You Were Created to Become Like Christ.

This is about Discipleship.
Are YOU being Discipled?
Are YOU Discipling anyone?

Write down some of the changes in your life since YOU became a believer. Are YOU becoming more Christlike every day?

Are YOU being patient in your spiritual growth?

How has God used your pain or trouble to help YOU grow?

What are YOU most vulnerable to Temptation?

5: You were Shaped for Serving God.

How is using your shape to serve others different from the way most people understand “ministry”?

What do YOU love to do that YOU could use to serve others?

Think of a painful experience YOU have gone through that YOU could use to help someone else that is going through what YOU experienced?

Do YOU compare yourself to others? Are YOU content with YOU? God created YOU to be YOU & not someone else.

Have YOU seen God’s power demonstrated through YOU when YOU felt weak?

6: You Were Made for a Mission.

What scares YOU when YOU hear the word “Evangelism?”

What keeps YOU from sharing the Good News?

What is your Life Message that God has given YOU that YOU could share with others?

What is the name of an unbelieving friend or acquaintance that YOU know that we can pray for?

What can YOU do to help fulfill the Great Commission?

Has this study helped YOU discover WHO YOU are In Christ Jesus?

Has this study helped YOU refocus & redirect your life purpose?

God’s Truth has something new & fresh every day just for YOU.

Won’t YOU open your Bible & find that new beginning God made just for YOU?

This is the end of this study. I am preparing another. I will take a few days to finish it & see you right back here next week. Stay tuned!

As always:
Be blessed & have a grace filled day!

WORD for your Wednesday.
Day 41 Challenge
Rick Warren’s Book
“The Purpose Driven Life”

Yes, if you know the book, it is a 40 day challenge. We are doing a 41 day challenge because 1 of the challenges was so long I split into 2 parts, so—41 day challenge.

Tomorrow will be a short recap of the challenge purposes for your life.

TODAY:
“Living with Purpose”
Proverbs 19:21. NIV.
“Many are the plan’s in a man’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.”

Acts 13:36. NASB.
“For David…served the purpose of God for his own generation.”

Living on purpose is the only way to really live. Anything & everything else is just existing. God did NOT create us simply to exist. All of His children were created to exist by serving.

God desires to lead us every day to fulfill His plans for us—
BUT—YOU must CHOOSE!

Most people struggle with three basic issues:
1: Identity: Who am I?
2: Importance: Do I matter?
3: Impact: What is my place in life?

The answers to all three are in the five purposes for your life.
1: YOU were planned for God’s pleasure.
2: YOU were formed for God’s pleasure.
3: YOU were created to become like Christ.
4: YOU were shaped for serving God.
5: YOU were made for a mission.

REMEMBER the Upper Room?
John 13: Jesus was concluding His last day of ministry with His disciples. He washed their feet as an example of serving others.
John 13:17. NIV.
“Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them.”

Are YOU blessed because YOU are serving others more than yourself?
Only YOU know what God wants YOU to do—the blessing comes in actually doing it.

This means YOU will have to STOP doing other things. There are many “good” things YOU can do with your life. BUT—God’s five purposes are the absolute five essentials YOU MUST DO!

It is easy for us to be distracted by the wiles of the Devil. He is an expert is creating diversions & distractions in our walk with Christ.

It is easy to drift away from what is important, from what matters most & gradually get off track. One of the best ways to stay focused is the have a personal “Life Purpose Statement.” It is your own Mission Statement.

What is a Life Purpose Statement & what does that look like?

It is your statement that summarizes God’s purposes for YOUR life. This is NOT a list of your life goals. Goals are temporary—purposes are eternal.
Philippians 4:9
“His plans endure forever; His purposes last eternally.”

Your Life Purpose Statement points YOU in the right direction for your life.

Writing down your purposes on paper will FORCE YOU to think about the path of your life.
Proverbs 4:26
“Know where you are headed, and you will stay on solid ground.”

IMPORTANT:
Your Life Purpose Statement not only spells out what YOU intend to do with your time, life, money—
It also implies what YOU are NOT going to do.
Proverbs 17:24
“An intelligent person aims at wise action, but a fool starts off in many directions.”

Your Life Purpose Statement defines “Success” for YOU.

It tells YOU what YOU believe is important & NOT what the world says is important. It sets out what your values are. The apostle Paul said: Philippians 1:10:
“I want you to understand what really matters.”

Your Life Purpose Statement clears up any & all confusion & makes it easier for YOU to understand.

Your life will take on different roles at different stages in life—
BUT your purposes never change. They are greater than any role YOU will have.

Your Life Purpose Statement is a statement that expresses your shape.

It reflects the unique way God has shaped YOU to serve Him. YOU & YOU alone have the purpose God made specifically for YOU!

Writing down your life purpose statement is not something YOU can or will do in one setting. Pray about it. Just write down your thoughts as they come to you. Let them set a day or two or a week. Come back, pray over what YOU wrote down. Edit if YOU feel led to & begin to write again. This is a process led by the Holy Spirit.

Here are 5 questions for YOU to consider as YOU write down your Life Purpose Statement:

1: What—Who—will be the center of your life? Who will YOU worship? What will YOU build your life around? YOU need to ask yourself WHAT—Who—will hold YOU together when life begins to break apart. YOU need that unshakeable CENTER in your life & His name is Jesus!

2: What—Who—will be the Character of your life? This is exactly WHY all of us need to be discipled & that begins in a Bible Study. YOU must CHOOSE! AND-YOU must be committed!

God is far more interested in WHAT YOU ARE than what YOU DO!
2 Peter 1:5. READ IT!

3: What will be the CONTRIBUTION of your life?

This question is about one thing:
Service to God. What will be your ministry in the Body of Christ? Your SHAPE of spiritual gifts, your heart to serve, your abilities, your personality & your life experiences are your SHAPE.
2 Corinthians 9:12.
“This service you perform not only meets the needs of God’s people, but also produces an outpouring of gratitude to God.”

4: What will be the COMMUNICATION of your life?

How will YOU communicate your mission to unbelievers? Your Life Purpose Statement is your commitment to share your testimony & the Good News with others.
Joshua 24:15. NLT.
“As for me and my family, we will serve the Lord.”

The key is that your life must support & validate the message YOU are communicating. In other words—If you talk the talk—you better be walking the walk!

5: What will be the COMMUNITY of your life?

Fellowship. YOU must demonstrate your commitment to other believers & have a connection to a local church which is your family of God—the Body of Christ.

This is where we practice “one another” fellowship & love.
Ephesians 5:25.
“Christ loved the church and gave His life for it.”

Focus on God’s purposes for your life—not your plans. God’s purposes last forever.
1 Thessalonians 2:4. NLT.
“Our purpose is to please God, not people.”

God wants to use YOU!
Acts 13:36
“David served God’s purpose in his generation.” That should help us understand WHY God called David—“A man after my own heart.”
Acts 13:22.

David dedicated his life to fulfilling God’s purposes on earth. Same for us. God is still looking for people to serve. There always has been & still—there is a need for people to serve.

Will YOU be a person God can use for His purpose? Will YOU serve God’s purpose in YOUR generation?

The Point:
Living with purpose is the only way to really live.

The question is this:
Will YOU take the time to write down your answers to life’s 5 questions? Will YOU take the time to write down YOUR purpose on paper?

Be blessed & have a grace filled hump day!

WORD for your Tuesday.
Day 40 Challenge
Rick Warren’s Book
“The Purpose Driven Life”

“Balancing Your Life”
Ephesians 5:15
“Live life with a due sense of responsibility, not as those who do not know the meaning of life but as those who do.” Living Bible.

2 Peter 3:17. NLT
“You already know these things, dear friends. So, be on guard; then you will not be carried away.”

The question is not:
How much of the Holy Spirit do I have?

The question is:
How much of me does the Holy Spirit have?

Blessed are those who are balanced & do not live in the world of drama. Those who are balanced will outlive everyone

Life is a marathon, which is a process, which is life.

There are five purposes for our lives that we must keep in balance.
They were practiced by the first Christians in Acts 2, explained by the apostle Paul in Ephesians 4 & modeled by Jesus in John 17–
BUT—they are summarized in the Great Commandment in
Matthew 22:37 & the Great Commission in Matthew 28:19-20.

These two purposes sum up God’s 5 purposes for our lives.
#1: “Love God with all your heart.”
YOU were planned for God’s pleasure, so your purpose is to love God through “worship.”

#2: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” You were shaped for serving, so your purpose is to show love for others through “ministry.”

#3: “Go and make disciples.”
YOU were made for a mission, so your purpose is to share God’s message through “evangelism.”

#4: “…baptize them into…”
YOU were formed for God’s family, so your purpose is to identify with His church through “fellowship.”

#5: “…teach them to do all things…”
YOU were created to become like Christ, so your purpose is to grow to maturity through “discipleship.”

A great commitment to the Great Commandment & the Great Commission will make YOU a great Christian.

Keeping these 5 purposes in balance in our lives is not easy.
Most of us will overemphasize the purposes we are most passionate about & neglect the others. Churches will fall into the same pattern.

We must strive for that balance & stay on track. We do that by fellowshipping with others in small groups for accountability. That small group or team will help us to regularly evaluate our spiritual health. That is best accomplished by keeping a daily journal & passing along to others what we have learned.

Here are four important activities that help us to live a purpose driven life. If YOU are serious about living a purpose driven life, YOU should develop these habits.

1: Talk It Through with an Accountability Partner or Your Small Group.

The best way to develop new habits is to talk them out with others.
Proverbs 27:17. NLT.
“As iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend.”

Our minds are sharpened & our convictions are deepened through conversation. We are meant to grow together—not separately.
We are better together.

Every single one of us needs to have a daily personal Bible Study. If YOU need help with this, let me know & I will help YOU get started. The Bible can be studied by paragraphs, chapters & even through entire chapters.

2: Give Yourself a Regular Spiritual Checkup.

We must do this regularly. At least 5 times in Scripture, we are told to test & examine our own spiritual health.
2 Corinthians 5:11. The Message.
“Test yourselves to make sure you are solid in your faith. Don’t drift along taking everything for granted. Give yourselves regular checkups …Test it out. If you fail the test , do something about it.”

ASK for help. DO NOT think YOU can fix it on your own. YOU can’t!
BUT—Jesus can! Jesus can through your accountability partner or your small group.

3: Write Down Your Progress in a Journal.

The best way to keep up with God’s purposes in your life is to write them down. This is not a diary of daily events—this is record of your life lessons YOU don’t want to forget.
Hebrews 2:1. The Message.
“It’s crucial that we keep a firm grip on on what we’ve heard so we don’t drift off.”

We remember what we write down.
Numbers 33:2. NLT
“ At the Lord’s direction, Moses kept a written record of their progress.”
Moses obeyed God’s command to record Israel’s spiritual journey.

Our lives are a journey, a process & it is important to write the experiences of your journey in a journal.

Don’t just write down the good things—Just as David did—
Write down your doubts & fears & struggles with God. Our greatest lessons come out of pain.
Psalm 56:8. CSB
“You Yourself have recorded my wanderings. Put my tears in Your bottle.”

God has a list. David was confident that God knew all about the emotional turmoil he was experiencing & that his tears would not escape God’s notice.

Our problems should cause each of us to focus on God. They should draw us closer to others in fellowship & build Christlike character. They will open the door for a ministry & give YOU a testimony.

I see this all the time in people despite great pain & struggles—they remain faithful, as hard as it can get—AND they are rewarded by God’s promises. He is faithful!

4: Pass Along What YOU Know & have Learned to Others.
Proverbs 11:25. The Message.
“The one who blesses others is abundantly blessed; those who help others are helped.”

By now, YOU should understand the purpose for your life. It is now YOUR responsibility to carry the message, the Good News, to others. God is calling YOU to be His messenger.

Paul tells us in 2 Timothy 2:2: CSB
“And what you have learned from me, in the presence of many witnesses, commit to faithful men (and women—my emphasis) who will be able to teach others also.”

It is our duty to pass these life changing purposes to others. The more we learn, the more God expects us to use that knowledge to help others.
James 4:17.
“Anyone who knows the right thing to do, but does not do it, is sinning.”

Knowledge increases our responsibility.
1 Timothy 4:6.
“If you teach these things to other followers, you will be a good servant of Christ Jesus.”

All of this is for God’s glory.
Jesus told His Father He was preparing His disciples to live for God’s purposes. Today, God calls each of us to the same work.

God wants us to introduce people to Christ, to bring them into His fellowship, to help them grow to maturity & discover their place of service & THEN—send them out to reach others too.

This is what purpose driven life is about . Regardless of your age, the rest of your life can be the best of your life & TODAY—you can start living your life on purpose!

The Point:
Blessed are those who are balanced.

Be blessed & balanced & have a grace filled day.
Pastor Mike.

08/31/2026

WORD for your Monday.
Day 39 Challenge
Rick Warren’s Book
“The Purpose Driven Life”

“Becoming a World-Class Christian”
Mark 16:15
“Jesus said to His followers,
“Go everywhere in the world, and tell the Good News to everyone.”

Psalm 67:2
“Send us around the world with the news of Your saving power and Your eternal plan for all mankind.”

Sounds intimidating doesn’t it?
The Great Commission is your commission. YOU have a choice to make. YOU will be either a “world- class” Christian or a “worldly” Christian.

Worldly Christians are self-centered Christians; saved, but—
Self-Centered.
James 2:19
“The demons also believe.”

Their prayers focus on their own needs. It is a “me-first” faith. How can God make my life more comfortable kind of thing. They want to use God for their purposes instead of being used for His purposes.

World-class Christians know & understand they were saved to serve & made for a mission. They are ready & excited for the privilege of being used by God.

Their joy, confidence & enthusiasm are contagious because they know they are making a difference. They wake up every morning expecting God to use them & work through them to meet someone’s needs.

We have no excuse NOT to GO & spread the Good News! Today, we have planes, trains, cars, buses, ships, phones—we can be anywhere in the world in a matter of hours.
No more excuses!!!

Even remote villages around the world have email. We can evangelize with people all over the world.

To have that “world-class” Christian mentality YOU must change Your perspective & Your attitude.
Oops! Did that offend YOU?
Truth matters & Truth Offends.

FIRST:
YOU must Shift from Self-Centeredness Thinking to “Other-Centered” Thinking
Philippians 2:4. NLT
“Don’t think only about your own affairs, but be interested in others, too.”

Then, there is Romans 12:2:
“Do not be conformed to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.”

The shift is to begin a moment-to-moment dependence on God. Our goal is to figure out where others are in their spiritual journey & then do whatever will bring them a step closer to knowing Christ.

SECOND:
YOU must Shift Your Thinking to Global Thinking.

God is a global God.
John 3:16
“For God so loved the world…”

The first way to start thinking globally is to begin praying for specific countries. Right now, we should be praying for the Middle East & the turmoil there.
Psalm 2:8
“If you ask me, I will give you the nations, all the people on earth will be yours.”

In the mission world, prayer is the most important tool we have.
Pray for missionaries, pray for opportunities & protection.

The very best way to switch to global thinking is to just get up & go on a short-term mission trip to another country.
Acts 1:8. Read it!

THIRD:
YOU must shift Your thinking from
“here & now” Thinking to Eternal Thinking. “Always, we should be thinking about eternity. So many people are not even thinking about eternity. They have this mentality of: “Why should I even have to think about that now?”

That is where we step in. We tell them the why. I hope YOU know.

FOURTH:
YOU Must Shift from Thinking of Excuses to Thinking of Creative Ways to Fulfill Your Commission.

There is a way. REMEMBER:
No more excuses.
God rejects our excuses. He rejected Sarah’s excuse that she was too old to have a child. He rejected Jeremiah’s excuse that he was too young.
YOU may only speak English, but in foreign countries, God will provide YOU with a translator.
YOU have something to offer.
YOU are NOT too old or too young.

All of us are given an assignment & called to fulfill God’s purposes in our lives & for our lives.

We are to: Worship, Fellowship, Grow to be Like Christ, Serve & be on mission with God in the world, wherever that is!

If YOU want to be like Jesus—
YOU must have a heart for those in the world. There are over 6 billion people in the world & Jesus wants all of them, all of His lost children to be found.

In YOUR community, at YOUR job, there are some of God’s lost children waiting for YOU to share the Good News!

The Great Commission is YOUR Commission & doing YOUR part is the secret to living a life of significance.

The Point:
The Great Commission.

Be blessed & have a grace filled week. Pastor Mike

08/29/2026

WORD for your Saturday.
Day 38 Challenge
Rick Warren’s Book
“The Purpose Driven Life”

“Sharing Your Life Message
1 John 5:10
“Those who believe in the Son of God have the testimony of God in them.”

1 Thessalonians 1:8
“Your lives are echoing the Master’s Word…The news of your faith in God is out. We don’t even have to say anything anymore—you’re the message!”

God has given YOU a Life Message to share! Go!!!
Whenever YOU became a believer, YOU also became God’s messenger.
God wants to speak to the world through YOU!

Paul said:
2 Corinthians 2:17
“We speak the truth before God, as messengers of God.”

YOU & many others feel like you don’t have anything to share, but that is the Devil trying & wanting to keep YOU silenced. YOU have a storehouse of experiences that God wants to use to bring others into His family.

1 John 5:10
“Those who believe in the Son of God have the testimony of God in them.”

Your Life Message has 4 parts.
Your testimony:
1: The story of how YOU began a relationship with Jesus
2: Your Life Lessons:
The most important lessons God has taught YOU.
3:Your Godly Passions:
The issues God shaped YOU to care about.
4: The Good News:
The message of salvation.

#1: Your Life Message Includes Your Testimony.

Your testimony is THE story of how Christ has made a difference in your life. It is YOUR STORY!

1 Peter 2:9.
Peter tells us:
“To do His work and speak out for Him, to tell others of the day and night difference He made for you.”

This is it! This is witnessing! This is YOU simply sharing your personal experiences regarding the Lord.

Acts 1:8: Jesus said:
“You will be My witnesses.”

Your testimony is like no one else’s.
Only YOU can share it!

Your testimony should—
Encourage YOU when YOU get discouraged & encourage others when they get discouraged.

It should:
Be used for God’d glory, not yours.
Focus on Christ, not your sins.
Lead others to Christ & salvation.
Your defense when you are challenged.

Personal stories, testimonies—
Capture peoples attention.

The question is:
Can others see Jesus in YOU?

YOU have a story for every experience in which God has helped YOU!

#2: Your Life Message Includes Your Life Lessons.

What truths has God taught YOU?

David said:
Psalm 119:33
“God, teach me lessons for living so I can stay the course.”

While it is wise to learn from experience, it is wiser to learn from the experiences of others. We must listen to the testimonies & experiences & lessons of others.

The Bible says:
Proverbs 25:12:
“A warning given by an experienced person to someone willing to listen is more valuable than…jewelry made of the finest gold.”

Write down your major life lessons YOU have learned so YOU can share them with others. Make a list of your life lessons. A man recently told me he started doing this & it scared him!!!

Think about these things:
What had God taught YOU about failure?
What has God taught YOU about having no money?
About:
Pain & Sorrow or Depression.
Patience.
Through sickness.
From Disappointment.
From my family, my church, my relationships, my small group?
From my Critics?

DON’T give up!!!

#3: Your Life Message Includes Your Sharing Your Godly Passions.

God is a passionate God.
He passionately loves some things & He passionately hates some things.

As YOU grow closer to Him—
He will give YOU a passion for something He cares deeply about so YOU can be His spokesman for Him in the world.

It may be a passion for:
A Problem, A Purpose, A Principle or A Group of People.

YOU can make a difference!
YOU cannot keep yourself from talking about what YOU care about most. God gives some people a godly passion to be the champion for a particular cause.

Often, it is for a problem YOU personally experienced such as:
Abuse, Addiction, Depression, Infertility, Disease, Cancer—it could be many things.

Sometimes, God will give YOU a passion to speak on behalf of others who cannot speak for themselves.
That might be for the:
Unborn, Persecuted, Poor, Imprisoned, Mistreated, Disadvantaged, someone who has been denied justice or someone who is down on their luck & just nees a little assistance AND maybe just someone to talk to.

God uses passionate people to to grow His kingdom. Listen & learn to value each other’s life message.

#4: Your Life Message Includes the God News.

What is the Good News?
It is Jesus Christ!
Romans 1:7
“The Good News shows how God makes people right with Himself—that it begins and ends with faith.”

2 Corinthians 5:19
“For God was in Christ, reconciling the world to Himself, no longer counting people’s sins against them. This is the wonderful message He has given us to tell others.”

The Good News is that when we trust God’s amazing grace to save us through what Jesus did at the cross, our sins are forgiven, we get our purpose for living & we are promised a future home in heaven.

We must learn to love people the way God loves them! Everybody matters to Him! We must care about unbelievers because God does! Love leaves no choice!

1 John 4:18
“There is no fear in love; perfect love drives out all fear.”

Ask God to fill your heart with love for others. No matter who they are or the circumstances with which God placed them in your path.
He loves them!

As long as YOU know one person who doesn’t know Jesus—YOU must keep praying for them. YOU must keep serving them in love by sharing the Good News!

What are YOU willing to do so that people will go to heaven? Share your story? Invite them to church? Provide them with a meal? Buy them some groceries? Pray for them?

All around YOU is a mission field.
Don’t miss opportunities God is giving YOU. Is anyone going to heaven because of YOU?

YOU are God’s messenger.
As His messenger, YOU are to share the Good News with others.

God made YOU a member of His family. He made YOU a model of His character. He made YOU to magnify His glory. He made YOU a minister of His grace. He made YOU a messenger of His Good News to others.

All of this is WHY spreading the Good News is so important. Only YOU will have a short time to share your life message & fulfill the mission God gave to YOU!

The Point:
God wants to say something to the world through YOU!

Be blessed & have a grace filled day.
AND—tomorrow—Sunday—
Go to church!
Be filled with the Good News!
