This week, the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) Office of Public Witness joined hundreds of people of faith at the Joint Christian Advocacy Summit to advocate for a just peace in Palestine and Israel. Together, we listened to powerful voices, participated in public witness and prayer, and met with members of Congress to urge action rooted in human dignity, justice, and peace.

We pray for an end to violence and suffering, for the protection of civilians, and for the courage of leaders to pursue a just and lasting peace for all people.

Introducing Marilyn Pool, a Synod Authorized Minister (“SAM”) serving Christ by the Lake Lutheran Church in Bull Shoals. Originally from Illinois, Marilyn has been involved in church life for as long as she can remember, finding joy and purpose in serving God’s people in many different ways throughout her life.

After completing two years of specialized training to become a SAM, Marilyn now assists in leading worship and is grateful for the privilege of offering Holy Communion to the congregation. She is also active in several ministries within the church, including WELCA (Women of the ELCA), a service‑focused group dedicated to supporting the congregation and the wider community, and the Soup Sisters Ministry, where volunteers prepare homemade soup twice a month for individuals in need as well as for Hospice House in Mountain Home.

Marilyn lives in Bull Shoals with her husband, Rich, and is blessed to have their two sons living nearby. In her spare time, she enjoys creating handmade cards — a hobby she has loved for more than 30 years.

Marilyn continues to grow in her calling as a SAM and is grateful for every opportunity to share God’s love through worship, service, and community care.
