Christ gave the greatest teaching challenge in the history of mankind. And here are a few factors to consider. First, Jesus said Go Ye. That means every born-again believer should be a teacher. Now, there are some things a teacher must have when teaching for Christ. The teacher must know Jesus as their Savior. And the teacher must know the Bible and have it in their hands, their head, and their heart. Second, they must know it is the Lord’s will for every believer to proclaim the simple Gospel of Christ. Third, every teacher must be a student of the Lord Jesus. It takes a learner to become a teacher. In Deuteronomy 6, God told His people to learn what He had taught them in their heart, and then teach it diligently to their children. Every parent should be a learner/teacher. Amen! Every Pastor should be a Learner/Teacher. But every Christian should be a Learner/Teacher. Now we know that Paul taught that the Lord gave some Pastors and teachers. I think there are certainly people who have the calling to teach. Praise be to God. But Christ said that there are some things everyone must learn and teach from God’s Word. Fourth, every teacher must be open and yielded to the instruction of the Holy Spirit for their ability to teach. 1 Corinthians 2:13 indicates this truth. “Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.” And this teaching has an endless impact. Teaching will result in men, women, boys, and girls coming to great faith in Christ as Savior. They will cultivate great discernment through the spiritual understanding of Scripture. They will have compassion for others to learn the blessed truth and wisdom for life from the Bible. And they will have all this in their hearts to teach others. The perpetual impact of teaching is that it builds up the church. Not just the entire body of Christ past, present, and future, but the people in present Local New Testament Churches living in communities all across the globe.
Consider what you have learned from your church this week or your personal instruction from the Bible. The simple things are the best things to teach others because they are so profound. Take a truth and teaching this week to someone else, and you will be sowing the seed of eternal truth into someone else’s heart today!
