This Saturday, join us at Mount Olivet Cemetery as we gather in prayer and remembrance to honor the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.

We are so proud to turn a section of our cemetery into an educational tour of the 26 iterations of the American flag. What a great tribute to our country, and our veterans, on this 250th anniversary of our country.

Special thanks to our friends at the Erie-Niagara Sunrise Exchange Club for helping us make this display a reality.

The display is currently on site at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, 4000 Elmwood Avenue, Kenmore, N.Y. 14217, and will be rotating throughout all our cemeteries throughout the summer.

Buffalo Catholic Cemeteries has received a donation of a statue of Jesus in repose after He was removed from the cross. The donation was given by Our Lady of Good Counsel in Darien, N.Y.

The statue was used at the church during the Stations of the Cross at noon on Good Friday, and after the service, it was displayed in front of the altar until Holy Saturday morning. It is now housed at Mount Olivet Cemetery, located at 4000 Elmwood Avenue in Kenmore, N.Y., inside the Resurrection Mausoleum. The statue is approximately four feet long and made of ceramic.

“We’re so blessed to receive donations like this,” said Tom Christy, Director of Catholic Cemeteries. “It’s always very difficult when a parish closes. We’re grateful that the parishioners of Our Lady of Good Counsel chose to preserve such a meaningful statue and entrusted Catholic Cemeteries with its permanent home. Artifacts like this are truly priceless.”
