When we gather for Holy Mass, we come into the presence of God and join the Church in worship. The way we dress can be one simple way of showing respect for the sacredness of the occasion and for those gathered in prayer.

REVERENCE FOR THE SACRED ⬇️

Our clothing can reflect the importance of the celebration we are attending and our desire to approach God with humility and respect.

DIGNITY AND MODESTY ⬇️

Every person is created in the image of God. Choosing clothing that is modest, clean, and appropriate for worship reflects the dignity that God has given us.

FOSTERING AN ATMOSPHERE OF PRAYER ⬇️

Thoughtful attire can help preserve a peaceful environment where everyone is encouraged to focus on prayer, Scripture, and the celebration of the Eucharist.

PREPARING TO WORSHIP ⬇️

Preparing for Mass includes both our hearts and our actions. Dressing respectfully can be part of our intentional preparation to participate in the sacred liturgy.

LEADING BY EXAMPLE ⬇️

Parents, grandparents, and other adults can help foster a culture of reverence by encouraging children and young people to dress appropriately for church with kindness and understanding.

HOW CAN WE PREPARE? ⬇️

🙏 Choose clothing that is neat, respectful, and suitable for worship.

🙏 Arrive at church with a spirit of prayer and reverence.

🙏 Encourage one another with charity rather than judgment.

🙏 Help children understand the beauty and meaning of preparing for Mass.

🙏 Remember that true worship begins in the heart and is reflected in our actions.

REMEMBER ⬇️

God sees the heart above all else. Our appearance does not determine our worth, but choosing respectful attire for worship can be a meaningful outward expression of our love for God and reverence for the sacred liturgy.
