Gratitude to Father Peter Ekanem
Our gratitude and prayers go out to Fr. Peter Ekanem for his ministry among our Light of Christ family of parishes. Bishop Fisher has assigned Fr. Peter to serve in Family #8 effective July 1, 2026. As Parochial Vicar of our faith community he has shared with us the love of God and the service that draws us closer to the relationship we share in Jesus. In the work of Word, Sacrament and Service, Fr. Peter has assisted to form so many in their love of God and as faithful members of the Church. I am grateful for his willingness to assist and collaborate with many of us in the responsibilities entrusted to him during his time among us. Our prayers for Father Peter as the Holy Spirit continues to charge him with zeal and faith in service to the Church and those entrusted to his care.

Welcome Fr. Arthur Mattulke
Our Light of Christ Family of parishes welcomes Rev. Arthur Mattulke as our Parochial Vicar. Fr. Art will reside at St. Paul's rectory in Kenmore. The appointment from Bishop Fisher is effective July 1, 2026. As a family of parishes, we pray that Fr. Mattulke will work to ensure that our Christian faithful are nourished through a devout celebration of the sacraments and God's presence among us. Let us pray that the Lord continues to strengthen him with the rich graces of His Holy Spirit.

Next week our special collection supports the Catholic Communication Campaign. This campaign represents a mission of love to share the gospel message of hope with people in the United States using the internet, television, radio, and print media. Half of the money we collect remains here in the Buffalo Diocese to fund local communications efforts. The other half supports the communication activities of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) and other projects across the U.S. Your help spreads the gospel message! From the Deacon's Chair

Well try listening to the song; maybe that will get it out of your head. Nope, tried that. Still there. Ok, then try signing it really loudly. I tried that. My dog is certain now that I am crazy. I have a song stuck in my head lately. It’s a song about a man who has died. He tells the people mourning him that it ain’t a goodbye, but he also tells them to go ahead and play those blues. He’s telling them it’s ok. It's a hopeful mourning. So much of life is like that: kids go off to college, little one takes her first bike ride around the block by herself, dad needs someone to come over and cut the grass for him because he can’t do it anymore. It’s a mix. It’s always a mix. It's your
mix, so turn it up.

“Play it strong/ play it all night long/ I’ll be rocking with my Savior where I belong.” Hammer to the Cross

— Yours in Christ, Deacon Andrew

Heavenly Father, Thank You for calling our priests according to Your divine will. Renew in them the assurance that their vocation comes from You alone. When discouragement arises, remind them that You chose them intentionally and equipped them for this sacred work. Strengthen their resolve to remain faithful, fruitful, and obedient. May their calling continually burn with purpose, clarity, and holy passion as they serve You and Your people. Amen.
