On Sunday, September 20th, at 4 PM, we are pleased to welcome organist Alexander Straus-Fausto, whose remarkable artistry brings the orchestral possibilities of the pipe organ vividly to life.
Recognized by The Diapason among its “20 Under 30” in 2023 and by CBC as one of Canada’s “Top 30 Under 30” in 2025, Straus-Fausto has performed at distinguished venues throughout North America and Europe, including Westminster Abbey, St. Paul’s Cathedral, La Madeleine in Paris, Trinity Church Wall Street, Princeton University Chapel, and the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception.
A graduate of the Eastman School of Music, Yale Institute of Sacred Music, Yale School of Music, and McGill University, he is particularly known for the art of orchestral transcription. He has created more than fifty transcriptions for organ, drawing upon the music of Leonard Bernstein, Richard Wagner, Gabriel Fauré, Richard Strauss, Alexander Borodin, and others.
In this performance, Straus-Fausto takes on one of Bernstein’s most exhilarating scores: the Overture to Candide, reimagined for the pipe organ in his own transcription.
