When You Need to Disagree in a Church Meeting

Instead of saying:
“You clearly haven’t thought this through.”
Try saying:
“I’m seeing this differently. Could we slow down and look at the concerns behind each perspective?”

The second response does not require you to abandon your position. It moves the conversation away from attacking someone’s competence and toward examining the actual issue.
Healthy disagreement is not the absence of conviction. It is the ability to express conviction without humiliating, dismissing, or demeaning another person.
