This is from Marilynn Horwood

It"s with a very heavy heart that I share the news that Rev. Guy Warke, pastor from 1964 to 1973 at North Park Lutheran Church, Buffalo, was called home by the Lord on March 11th. I was a teenager when he came to North Park, and the first thing I was impressed with (and even a little intimidated by!) was his booming voice and "take charge" attitude. He was a wonderful pastor and I enjoyed being a part of his "flock." In 2013 he and his wife Helen returned to Buffalo for North Park's 90th anniversary celebration. It was so good to see them both and share the occasion with people I admired very much. For anyone interested, you can find his obituary at clancygernon.com in Bourbonnaise (Illinois). Helen has requested prayers for the family.

The passing of a loved one is a difficult time. We are here to help you honor and celebrate their life, and to begin the healing process for your family.

Dear Siblings in Christ,

With heavy hearts but in certain hope of the resurrection we share the news that The Rev. Dr. Guy D. Warke died peacefully last week. He served North Park from 1964-1973. We invite you to pray for his wife Helen and all who grieve his passing. We give thanks for his Gospel witness. Well done good and faithful servant!

From Donna Marie Paradowski ..
Here's what I want to tell you about North Park Lutheran Church ..
I was lost for so many years; searching for a place to worship that meant something to my heart. Everywhere we went it never felt quite right. Some just asked for money, some were based on being better than the nasty lowly sinners, some had too much brimstone .. on and on. When we were asked to attend a service at North Park it was the day that changed my life. I was first attracted by the music. I loved the contemporary songs and the uplift they provided. Then there was the people and the vibe there. This little church has more love and kindness than any other I saw in all the years I looked. Here is where I was accepted, loved, cared for and about. Where we were all flawed, messed up, anxious, whatever; and nobody was better than anyone else because we were all sinners; knowing we were saved by Jesus. This is where I finally got to exhale!! I relaxed and received a new family, with all it's love, problems, caring, giving, laughter, and yes sometimes anger .. just like a real family works.
I am deeply grieved and wallowing in sorrow. I know Jesus has us in mind and a place for us is out there. Soon the grief will lessen and i'll be ready for the next phase in my faith life.
I encourage any members of North Park, now and in the past, to make a comment on what this church means to you.
Thank you for the good years; North Park. In my heart forever.

We here at North Park Lutheran Church are sad to announce our closing. We did the best we could but staying open any longer simply wasn't a viable option. We will be open until the end of October; with a closing service on October 31st at 3:00 .. Pre service music will begin at 2:30 featuring North Park's Faith Journey Band. We are grieved to have this happening and wish the absolute best to our church family. It is our sincere hope that you all find a place where you are as comfortable celebrating our Lord as we all were here at North Park. Thank you all for your support and love over the years; it truly meant the world to us.
For any other information please direct all questions to the church office.

Ephesians 3:19 states ..
The church is not a building; the church is the people of God, redeemed by Jesus Christ. So, in an important sense, no one can shut down the church. A building may sit empty, but the church can still be “filled to the measure of all the fullness of God”.
Amen.
