๐ Summer Reading Through the Psalms โ Day 61
Psalm 136:1
โGive thanks to the LORD, for he is good. His love endures forever.โ
โค๏ธ HIS LOVE ENDURES FOREVER!
Psalm 136 repeats this truth 26 times. Every single verse ends with the same declaration:
โHis love endures forever.โ
The Hebrew word translated โloveโ in this verse is hesed. There isnโt one English word that fully captures its meaning. Hesed describes Godโs steadfast, faithful, covenant love, a love marked by mercy, loyalty, and faithfulness to His promises.
In other words, Godโs love isnโt here today and gone tomorrow. His hesed is a love you can depend on because God Himself is faithful.
Why does Psalm 136 repeat it 26 times?
When circumstances change, His love endures forever.
When we fail, His love endures forever.
When we cannot see what God is doing, His love endures forever.
From creation to redemption, His love endures forever.
โ๏ธ And we see the ultimate demonstration of Godโs love in Jesus Christ:
โBut God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.โ โ Romans 5:8 (NIV)
๐ Whatever you are facing today, remember the truth Psalm 136 gives us 26 times:
โค๏ธ HIS LOVE ENDURES FOREVER!
