HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY…

HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY

“The loveliest masterpiece of the heart of God is the heart of a Mother.”
— Saint Thérèse of Lisieux

Blessed Mother’s Day to all mothers, those who stand as mothers within their families, and even those who serve with a mother’s love in the Church. Today, we celebrate not only motherhood itself, but also the quiet sacrifices, unconditional love, and unwavering strength that mothers show every single day. One day will never be enough to thank you for everything you have done. Behind every successful child, every healed wound, and every hopeful heart is often a mother who silently carried burdens, offered prayers, and gave everything she could out of love.

A mother’s heart is one of God’s greatest gifts to humanity. In her, we first experience care, compassion, patience, and selfless love. When life becomes difficult, mothers are often the first to comfort us and remind us not to lose hope. They carry worries that no one sees, shed tears that no one notices, and continue loving even when they themselves are tired and hurting. Many times, we fail to realize how much our mothers have sacrificed until we grow older and understand the depth of their love. Truly, a mother’s love reflects the tenderness and mercy of God Himself.

We also honor the greatest mother given to us by God — Mary, Mother of Jesus. As the Mother of God and Mother of the Church, Mary remains the perfect example of humility, faith, obedience, and unconditional love. Like her, many mothers continue to persevere despite hardships, continue praying despite fears, and continue loving despite pain. Through her maternal care, Mary reminds us that no loving sacrifice is ever wasted in the eyes of God.

Today, we also remember grandmothers, guardians, sisters, aunts, teachers, and all those who became “mothers” to others through their guidance, care, and compassion. Thank you for every sleepless night, every silent prayer, every sacrifice, and every act of love that often goes unnoticed. Your presence brings warmth to homes, strength to families, and hope to hearts.

Our prayer is that God may continue to bless and protect all mothers at all times. May He grant you strength in every challenge, peace in every struggle, and joy in knowing that your love has touched countless lives. May the Blessed Virgin Mary watch over you always and lead you closer to her Son.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the beautiful hearts who reflect the love of God in this world. 💐

YOUR MOTHER’S PRAYERS HAVE SAVED YOU COUNTLESS TIMES MORE THAN YOU KNOW…

YOUR MOTHER’S PRAYERS HAVE SAVED YOU COUNTLESS TIMES MORE THAN YOU KNOW

Many of us will never fully realize how many times our mother’s prayers have protected and guided us. Long before we understood life’s struggles, she was already whispering prayers to God for our safety, our future, and our well-being. Behind her care, sacrifices, and constant concern is a quiet faith that continually lifts us up even when we are unaware of it.

A mother’s prayer may seem simple, but it carries incredible strength because it comes from a heart filled with love. She prays when we leave home, when we face difficulties, when we make important decisions, and even when we drift away from God. In moments we thought we were simply “lucky” or spared from harm by chance, perhaps it was her prayers covering us all along — protecting us from dangers we never even saw.

Her prayers do more than keep us safe physically. They help shape who we become. Through her constant intercession, we are gently guided toward goodness, reminded to stand back up after failures, and strengthened during seasons of confusion and pain. Even in silence, a mother continues to fight for her children through prayer, trusting God to lead them when she no longer can.

Sometimes we forget that one of the greatest expressions of love is praying for someone consistently. Mothers do this every single day — often without recognition, without praise, and without expecting anything in return. Their prayers become a quiet shelter over our lives, carrying us through moments we never could have survived alone.

Today, take time to thank your mother, your grandmother, or any woman who has cared for you like a mother. Some of the blessings you enjoy today, the strength you have, and the battles you overcame may have been touched by their prayers long before you even noticed.

A mother’s love is powerful, but a praying mother’s love is unforgettable.

Amen.

TODAY, THE FEAST OF STS. PHILIP AND JAMES IS SUPERSEDED BY SUNDAY LITURGY

TODAY, THE FEAST OF STS. PHILIP AND JAMES IS SUPERSEDED BY SUNDAY LITURGY

In 2026, the usual celebration of the feast of Saints Philip and James the Apostles on May 3 is set aside because it coincides with a Sunday in the Easter season. In the Church’s liturgical calendar, Sundays—especially those within Easter—hold a higher rank than most feasts of saints, even those of the apostles. This is rooted in the understanding that every Sunday is a “little Easter,” a weekly celebration of the Resurrection of Christ, which stands at the very heart of Christian faith. Because of this, the liturgy gives priority to the Sunday celebration rather than replacing it with another feast.

This precedence is guided by the norms established in the General Roman Calendar and the General Norms for the Liturgical Year and the Calendar, which clearly outline the hierarchy of liturgical days. According to these norms, Sundays of the Easter season outrank feasts of the apostles. As a result, the Mass texts, readings, and prayers for that day will all correspond to the Sunday of Easter, not to Saints Philip and James. Their proper liturgical prayers are therefore omitted for that year on the universal calendar.

However, this does not mean that Saints Philip and James are forgotten. Their witness as apostles remains significant, and they may still be remembered in personal prayer, catechesis, or local devotions. In some cases, particular churches dedicated to them may observe their feast with special permission. Ultimately, this liturgical decision highlights a deeper theological truth: while the saints are honored as faithful followers of Christ, the Church always gives primacy to the mystery of Christ’s Resurrection, which is the foundation of all Christian celebration.
