In our Horsemanship major, you can expect a summer in the saddle – filled with horses, adventure, and hands-on Western riding traditions. 🐎 Here’s what you can look forward to:
Rising 3rd- to 8th-graders:
A welcoming introduction for riders of all levels, from first-timers to those with experience. Campers are placed in ability-based patrols, receive their own assigned horse, and learn from experienced corral counselors. Days include arena riding, scenic trail rides, gymkhana events, cattle work, and polocrosse – all designed to build confidence while keeping safety front and center. The session also features a three-day mountain trip and wraps up with an end-of-session gymkhana.
Rising 9th- to 12th-graders:
A deeper dive into the Western riding experience for those ready to grow their skills. Campers develop techniques in reining, arena work, gymkhana, cattle handling, and polocrosse, while strengthening their partnership with their horse. The program includes a three-day pack trip on horseback and emphasizes responsibility, leadership, and teamwork – finishing with the end-of-session gymkhana.
