Our Story
We are Blue Ridge Baptist Church of Buena Vista, Virginia. We are a true and independent Baptist Church (1689 Confession) which is but a local assembly of friendly like-minded saints who were once sinners, but who have now been saved by the freely bestowed sovereign grace of God from the justly deserving condemnation of sin and death, and who banded together and have covenanted to worship together and to teach, train, and rear our families together in the fear and admonition of the Lord.
We believe in the Blood (the all sufficient sacrifice of Jesus Christ), the Book (the infallible, inerrant, plenary inspired, Holy Scriptures), and the Blessed Hope (the soon returning King Jesus who will bring about fulfilled redemption, completed sanctification, and ultimate glorification of all perservering saints).
We were founded in 1987 with our sole mission which is twofold: First, to magnify and glorify the Lord our God, and Second, to evangelize the lost (in addition to our local outreach, we support home and foreign missions) and continually spiritually mature and equip the saints (we have four regularly scheduled weekly meetings to grow, strengthen, and equip believers).
We desire to develop fully mature and equipped saints prepared to properly worship God, withstand the enemy, and minister to the needy. We enjoy the continual indwelling of the Holy Spirit in every true believer and seek the promised presence of the Holy Spirit in all of our gatherings. We plead for the manifested presence of the Holy Spirit as the Lord would sovereignly be pleased to grant.
