We aspire to strengthen each person's confidence and joy in Jesus Christ at every point in their life.We embrace you as a family member of our congregation and in oneness with God, St Paul Baptist Church was established in approximately 1868 as the slavery era ended and the reconstruction era began.St Paul also served as a school of learning. In the late 1890’s to early 1900’s, St Paul Baptist Chu
rch began to serve as a school for the children in the Bueche community. St Paul can take pride in the accomplishments of its students in educational, secular and sacred environments. Because of the foundation that it gave its students, many of the children who completed their education at St Paul School furthered their education by attending McKinley High School, Leland College, and Southern University. In the secular environment, many students became administrators, attorneys, barbers, brick-layers, business owners, carpenters, engineers, managers, retail salesmen, scientists, philanthropists, physicians, and teachers. In the sacred environment, many students became choir members, deacons, deaconesses, gospel singers, ministers, pastors and ushers. During the latter portion of the nineteenth century, all of the twentieth century and now in the twenty-first century, the trusting travelers who were and are St. They have “pressed toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” The church has survived through the rain of the depression era of the 1930’s; the floods of segregation and oppression that occurred during the Jim Crow and Civil Rights eras; the winds and woes of war, the hurricanes and storms that battered and bruised Louisiana and it’s coastal shores, and unexpected incidents. Paul continues its mission of educating people and helping them to grow in the promises of the Lord. The church remains committed to “Shining In The Light Of The Holy Trinity” and being “A Dwelling Place of Faith and For Family.” St Paul School retains a pleasant and inspiring place in the hearts and memories of its students. It provided the children a foundation upon which they could defeat their adversities and delight in their accomplishments. Quotes from two of the former students express their thoughts and the sentiments of other students regarding St Paul the church and the school. One student said: “When I come into this church building I expect to receive a blessing. A multitude of mercies can be found in this house.” The other student said: “Surely St Paul early school and church house is a blessing and still is a blessing to this community. A beacon light for the children down through the years.”
