High Hill Church & Cemetery

High Hill Church & Cemetery High Hill Church & Cemetery, located near Bucklin, MO in rural Macon County. The church paused services in 2013, but resumed in 2022.

The cemetery association has been active throughout, meeting yearly. High Hill Church is located southeast of Bucklin, MO. Built in 1883, services were held up until 2013, but recently resumed in 2022. The High Hill Cemetery Association still meets annually to oversee and maintain the cemetery grounds. Current board members include Kevin Behrman (president), Amber Wood (secretary/treasurer), Donna Huff, Susie Huff, Cindy Rhodes, Joy Main, and Betsy Hayes.

Brother Jim ❤️
High Hill lost a very sweet man yesterday. He faithfully served at High Hill Church as the lay minister for several years, preaching every second and fourth Sunday. We shared him with other country churches in the area, so he would start his morning at a different church, then long about the time we were wrapping up Sunday school and saying the Lord's Prayer, you'd hear Jim's car coming down the lane. He'd always walk in with that same smile on his face, then often telling a silly joke before starting his message.
He served in so many different ways over the years. We may never know the full effect of the lives he touched.

These photos came from a scrapbook Mabel Main put together and shows the Christmas Eve service at High Hill in 1979.
Why is Amber dressed up like a mouse? Well Joy sang an old song "The Naughty Little Mouse". It was not a song in the old High Hill hymnal, but one Joy learned as a girl and shared with the congregation that night. 🐁❤️
