Articulate: Exploring Art As Faith

Can the power of art revitalize your ministry and strengthen your community?

In Articulate: Exploring Art As Faith, author and artist Armando Heredia invites ministry leaders and art enthusiasts alike to rediscover the profound connection between artistic expression and spiritual formation.

Moving beyond the misconception that art and ministry are separate entities, Heredia unveils the inherent creativity woven throughout Scripture, revealing how art can be a powerful tool for communicating the Gospel, fostering deeper engagement with faith, and reaching a wider audience. Drawing on biblical examples like the Tabernacle's intricate symbolism, the prophets' dramatic performances, and the emotional depth of the Psalms, Heredia demonstrates how art has always been an integral part of the spiritual journey.

Heredia challenges churches to embrace the unique gifts of artists, offering practical strategies for integrating artistic expression into the rhythm of church life. From establishing dedicated gallery spaces to aligning exhibitions with preaching series and nurturing vibrant art communities, "Articulate" provides a roadmap for creating a church where art is not simply an afterthought but a vital force for spiritual growth and community connection.

If you are seeking fresh inspiration for your ministry and longing to create a more inclusive and engaging community, "Articulate" will equip you to:

What matters most is When we hear the heartbeat of our neighbor
It’s Not to hear the accent in their speech Or see the color of their skin ‘Cause when we hear their hearts we’ll know we’re kin

and in most matters there’s a way to be kind Most Always a way to be kind Oh, most Always a way to be kind

Oh

If I see you and can’t see me, maybe it’s time to pluck out my eyes so my mind can’t tell me lies about what I’m seeing and l maybe my heart can hear yours beating

Beating
Oh, your heart

What good is it for a man to gain the whole world and lose his soul and who can say they love the God they can’t see, and hate the kindred they can

and in most matters there’s a way to be kind Most Always a way to be kind Oh, most Always a way to be kind
To be kind

Oh

Compassion and mercy, love and humility
Bridges not walls, the hand not the fist
It’s God up close, so close you can hear his heart

Beating, Beating
Oh! Beating

What matters most is When we hear the heartbeat of our God And He’ll say
Don’t just hear the accent in their speech Or see the color of their skin and You’ll know that you are kindred

This is the kingdom where the power and
Glory will be
who can say they hate the kingdom they can see, and love the God they can’t

Let Your Kingdom Come
And Your will be done
Let Your kingdom
Your kingdom come

and in most matters there’s a way to be kind Most Always a way to be kind Oh, most Always a way to be kind

Oh, kindness is seeing you the same kind as me, and sharing the love we’ve both received

Compassion and mercy, love and humility
Bridges not walls, the hand not the fist
It’s God up close, so close you can hear his heartbeat
So close, so close

Oh, so close

What good is it for a man to gain the whole world and lose his soul and who can say they love the God they can’t see, and hate the kindred they can

Very minimalist, focused on the illustrations from the book, I Feel You, Illustrations on how I am dealing with my own grief. The second song on the soundtrack album, Grief Is Love. It’s not advice or how to get through, just a song about feeling the loss.

When my brother passed away, I spent time everyday working through my grief with illustrations and describing and wrestling with my own grief. It was not meant to be the book that it became, but after sharing the drawings on here, and other platforms, friends and family asked to share them with their own grieving loved ones. This album is the soundtrack to the book. All of the songs are based off the illustrations, and words from the pages. My hope is that folks who are working through grief can hear these songs and at least know this, “You are not alone.”
