The New Church

The New Church The New Church helps people draw closer to the Lord God Jesus Christ, sharing His power and His peace. It is a religion to be lived, not just believed.

The New Church is a Christian denomination that addresses questions about God, love, and life after death with answers that make sense. New Church beliefs are of course founded in the Word of God in the Old and New Testaments, and provide new insight into its meaning. Some of our core beliefs:
• There is one loving, personal God, and He is the Lord Jesus Christ.
• The life of religion is to

obey the Ten Commandments, and to act honestly and faithfully in our daily occupations.
• The Word of God (the Bible) has a deeper meaning, teaching about a person’s spiritual development.
• Each of us continues life as a complete person immediately after death of the body.
• God does not judge us, but we judge ourselves by what we love and how we live.
• People of every faith are saved if they live sincerely according to their religion. A fuller discussion of New Church beliefs can be seen at https://newchurch.org/get-answers/spiritual-concepts/

You know what makes me angry?

"When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his glorious throne. All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left.

“Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’" Matthew 25:31-36

"The Divine is present through all time independently of time. As the Divine is present through all space independently of space, so it is present through all time independently of time. For no property of nature can be predicated of the Divine, and space and time are properties of nature.

Space in nature is measurable, and so, too, is time. Time is measured in terms of days, weeks, months, years and centuries, and a day then in terms of hours, a week and month in terms of days, a year in terms of the four seasons, and centuries in terms of years.

Nature has this measurement from the apparent orbital motion and cycling of the world's sun.

[2] The same is not the case, however, in the spiritual world. Progressions of life there in similar manner appear to take place in time, since people live in that world with each other as people in this world do, which is not possible without an appearance of time; but time there is not distinguished into periods as in the world, for their sun stands constantly in their east, never moving, because it is the Lord's Divine love that appears to them as the sun. Consequently they do not have days, weeks, months, years, or centuries, but instead of these states of life, which result in transitions, transitions which cannot be called transitions of time but transitions of state.

So it is that angels do not know what time is, and when they hear time referred to, they perceive instead a reference to state. Moreover, when state is what determines time, time is only an appearance; for a state of delight causes time to seem short, and a state devoid of delight causes time to seem long.

From this it is apparent that time in the spiritual world is nothing other than a quality of state." Divine Love and Wisdom 73

The devil isn't a single being, but a personification of evil, and the hellish spirits that influence us.

If God is real, why doesn't he prove it?

"The various and diverse natures of these marriages in respect to the love in them and its character are altogether beyond number. In all things we find an infinite variety and also an infinite diversity. By variety here we mean variations among things which are of the same kind or same type, also variations in kinds and types, whereas by diversity here were mean disparities between things which are in contrast to each other. We can illustrate our concept of the difference between variety and diversity by the following example:

The angelic heaven hangs together as a unified whole, yet it exhibits an infinite variety, in that no two people there are ever entirely alike — not in their souls and minds, nor in their affections, perceptions and consequent thoughts, nor in their inclinations and consequent intentions, nor in the sounds of their voices, facial features, physical characteristics, gestures or manner of walk. But still, even though there are millions of them, they have been organized and are continually being organized by the Lord into a single body, in which there is complete unanimity and harmony. This would not be possible except for the fact that all those various sorts of people are led, universally and individually, by the same one God. That is what we mean here by variety."
