We know the Ten Commandments are important, and we probably know most, if not all, of them by heart -- but what do they actually mean to us? This week, we will look at reframing "command" as a glimpse into God's wisdom for us. We will start with the first three commandments as we dive deeper into what it means to have no other gods before Him, no idols, even of Him, and not to carry the name of the Lord in vain.

Over the past few weeks, we have been looking at what makes us Wesleyan. While it's important to understand the history of the Methodist theology and practices, World Communion Sunday reminds us that we are part of a community much larger than any one church or denomination. As we celebrate communion with Christians across the world, we will dive into the new life and forgiveness that Christ offers through the remembrance of His body and blood.

We've discussed the central doctrine of grace and the pillars of piety. Today, we'll be finishing out our series covering the foundations of Methodist theology by considering John Wesley's General Rules: Do no harm. Do good. Attend to the ordinances of God. These rules are the outward practice of receiving God's Grace and observing the Pillars of Piety. These rules are not meant to replace scripture. Rather, they should help us better understand scripture, grow closer to God, and love our neighbor.

As we continue in the teachings of John Wesley, we dive into the pillars of piety: Love God and Love God's Creation. Grace invites us into a relationship with God. The resulting works of piety are the disciplines that help us build, grow, and deepen that relationship. Today, we will look at how prayer, scripture, communion, fasting, christian community, and healthy living aren't simply things we are obligated to do as Christians but are things that we get to do as followers of Christ who desire to Love God and Love God's Creation.

We'll be learning about the man, John Wesley, who played a major role in the Methodist movement and his central doctrine of Grace. Join us as we journey through prevenient, justifying, and sanctifying grace in our pursuit of Christian perfection.
