Romans 12:2
Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is —his good, pleasing and perfect will.

Today at Pilgrims we discussed ways to renew our minds. One of the primary ways we can do this is through prayer and confession within community.

This week we are seeking deeper community with one another by:
1. Confessing sin to one another.
2. Asking for and receiving prayer from each other.
3. Offering to pray for those in need.

James 5:16
Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.

This Sunday at Pilgrims: Acts 15:1-21.
Oftentimes, we try to add religion to the gift of grace that Christ has given us. Our walk with Christ is not about rules or religiosity, but about deep surrender to God's will and to the leading of the Holy Spirit. When we turn away from our past idols and allow Christ to transform our wills and desires into His, we will do right out of joyful obedience, without the need for rules.

Today at Pilgrims: Acts 8: 9-24
It is all too easy to seek God for the sake of what He can give us instead of seeking Him to simply know Him more.
This week, in response to this scripture, we are repenting of bitterness in our own lives, examining our own motivations for seeking God, and seeking deeper relationship with one another.

What a great day it was to see everyone at church after all this time, and it was great that the vote to call Rev. Jeremy Huff as your new pastor was unanimous. PIP has been blessed in the past and I know that blessings will continue.

Psalms of Lament speak to the heart.

"Attend to me, and answer me; am troubled in my complaint. I am distraught by the noise of the enemy, because of the clamor of the wicked."

Todos Somos Alabama. "I hate racial discrimination most intensely and all its manifestations. I have fought all my life; I fight now, and will do so until the end of my days."
-- Nelson Mandela

By Kent FaulkReligion News Service (RNS) Leaders of the Episcopal, Methodist and Roman Catholic churches in Alabama filed a federal lawsuit on Monday (Aug. 1) to stop enforcement of the state's new immigration law, which they say could strike at the core of their ability to worship.

Big guy, big heart!

James Jones remembers seeing fliers for youth football camps when he was a kid. He also remembers how badly he wanted to go.

Touching story!

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – A community came together to grant a homeless man his last wish. That dying wish was to see his dog one more time. It was a simple request, but one that meant the world to him in his final days.

Due to my health and the Texas heat, I am going on a sabbatical from PIP. I will not be traveling or doing anything special, I will simply be staying in where it's air conditioned. Fortunately Pastor Jeremy Huff and friends from Vineyard Church BCS are excited about filling in for an undetermined length of time. I cannot thank them enough for allowing me this opportunity to recuperate. I will miss everyone. Lenni
