Child loss can be a very lonely journey. You look around and believe that nobody can possibly understand what you are walking through and there are no words to describe the pain you are feeling.

What if there was a place you could go where everyone knew that pain?

A place where you didn’t have to put on a mask and pretend.

A place where you can cry and laugh without feeling guilt.

A place where you leave and feel like that load is not as heavy because you found people who you can be real with.

We have that place for you!

Registration for the Round Top Haven of Hope Retreat is now open.

If you are grieving the death of a child or know a mom who is then Haven of Hope Ministries will be hosting a retreat in North Texas at the Prothro Retreat Center at Lake Texoma on March 21-23, 2025.
Haven of Hope is comprised of moms who have and are walking through the death of a child or children regardless of age or circumstances. We know this journey can be lonely and we know the depths of the pain losing a child brings. You do not have to walk this path alone. At this retreat you will find moms who get it and want to encourage you and support you.
If you have any questions please contact me and I will be happy to chat with you about our retreat

Some of the worst things to say to someone in grief. I know we can all relate to the person who truly may mean well but just doesn’t know.
-At least she lived a long life
-He/She is in a better place.
- He/She brought this on themselves. (Ok this person may not have meant well!)
- There is a reason for everything
- Aren’t you over them yet, they have been dead a while.
-You can still have another child.
-He/She was such a good person God wanted them with him.
-I know how you feel
- She/He did what she came here to do and it was her/him time to go
- Be strong

Productive ways to respond to these statements.
- While that may be true, it is not helpful
- That may bring you comfort, but I don’t find comfort in that thought/idea.

What are some things people have said to you and how have you responded?

I wanted to share a little bit from one of our sessions at this past weekend retreat. Jennifer Brant LPC did a session called The Inside Out of Grief. And in that session she shared how tears are beneficial and our body’s chemical response to excreting tears.
Don’t apologize for your tears. They are God given and have a purpose. 💕

As I fast approach what would have been my son Joshua's 26th birthday I am struck by the fact that I have survived 17 years without him. I can close my eyes and still see his face, hear his voice singing in the car, and remember what it felt to have his arms wrap around me. I miss him every single day. As I know you mommas miss your babies.
Share something that you remember that makes you smile.
