LUKE 5:15 & 6:17
HEAR AND BE HEALED
In these two passages of scripture, we see a common theme in what happened when Jesus healed people. First, they had to hear Him. They had already heard about Him and the wonderful things taking place wherever He went. This movement was growing.
Back in the mid-1960s, a movement began in San Francisco known as the Jesus Movement. More recently, a movie titled "The Jesus Revolution" chronicled how people began to hear about our Lord and the good things He was doing for the hippies in California. The news spread far and wide, and people everywhere were being transformed.
As Spiritually Minded Believers, we understand how important it is to hear about Him and what He has done. But these people could gather and hear Him directly—from His own mouth. The results were that they were all healed from diseases and freed from unclean spirits. It even states that they sought to touch Him because of the power coming from Him.
Think about that— “they were all healed”! It wasn’t because they were more holy or studied the scriptures more than anyone else. It was because they heard Him. Are you listening?

PROVERBS 16:23
THE HEART OF THE WISE TEACHES HIS MOUTH
Once we have been born again, our spirit becomes alive because of the presence of Holy Spirit, and He takes up residence in our hearts. Now, this does not mean that He lives inside of our blood pump, which is located in the center of our chest. Rather, He lives in the center of our being. When we continue in His ways, we will begin to gain His wisdom along with His understanding. Our hearts, as referred to in scripture, include our knowing and believing area of our intellect, which begin to blend together.
As a Spiritually Minded Believer, we begin to be transformed by the renewing of our minds. This transformation involves the way we talk and the things that we talk about. As Holy Spirit transforms us, we should begin to notice that some words no longer seem like they belong in our vocabulary. This is correct. The scriptures instruct us to put away and remove all perverse speech and filthy language. We must keep in our minds that Jesus said in Matthew 12:34-36, "For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks," and that "for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgement."
Because of His transformation taking place in us, our hearts begin to gain wisdom. That wisdom will begin, over time, to teach our mouths. I used to be a professional cusser—may have even invented a few of the cuss words used today! But praise God, my heart began to gain wisdom, and it taught my mouth.

PSALMS 146:9
BUT THE WAY OF THE WICKED HE TURNS UPSIDE DOWN
In Psalms 146 starting in verse 3, we read and learn that, as Spiritually Minded Believers, we are not to put our earnest and heartfelt trust in man, no matter their position or status in life. Verse 4 explains why: they are just men whose bodies go back to the earth and whose spirit departs when death comes. In that very day, their plans perish.
Verse 5 tells us that happy are we who hope in the Lord and have the God of Jacob (or Israel) as our help. Verse 6 describes how He made the earth, the sea, the entire universe, and all it contains. It also states that He keeps truth forever!
Verse 7 states that He executes justice for the oppressed, gives food to the hungry, and grants freedom to the prisoners. Verse 8 tells us He opens the eyes of the blind and raises whoever appears to be bowed down. He loves the righteous people. Verse 9 explains that He watches over the strangers and relieves the fatherless and the widow. (This word "relieves" actually means to duplicate or repeat and restore.) But the way of the wicked He turns upside down! Finally, in verse 10, we discover that the Lord shall reign forever!
As Spiritually Minded Believers, we already know these truths. However, it always does our souls good to re-discover them, to refresh them, and to bring them to the forefront of our thinking. With a renewed mind and sense of urgency, we can then share them with others, especially as we see that day approaching!

EPHESIANS 2:3
FULFILLING THE DESIRES OF THE FLESH AND OF THE MIND
In Ephesians chapter 2 verse 4 we see that this verse begins with the phrase "But God", to the Spiritually Minded Believer this phrase should produce the Spiritual force of Joy in our inner man since it is a break in the natural flow of things. "But God", my-my what an absolutely awe-inspiring phrase that makes us truly believe that what God said, God meant!
Keeping that in mind, we go back to verse 1 and see that it was Jesus who actually gave us His life. Since we had already been pronounced dead because of our trespass against God. We have all walked this out to some extent, because that is the natural course of things born of this corrupt world since the spirit of disobedience which, by the way, is right now, working in the children of disobedience which you and I were once a partaker of!
It was that spirit of disobedience that caused us to conduct our own lives the way we see fit and filling ourselves up with everything that we could imagine and whatever things were suggested to us by others following the same path of destruction. It was our nature; we didn’t seem like we could help it much less stop it on our own and if you were like me, you didn’t really want to or have any reason good enough to even try to stop! But God!!!
