Say Hi Day is an annual holiday celebrated today in memory of Joseph Anthony Cinotti, a special needs teen who died at the age of 15. Cinotti made it a habit to greet everyone he met throughout his life, and his upbeat personality endeared him to his neighborhood. Say Hi Day is a public awareness campaign that aims to remind people that one simple word can improve someone’s day, bring a smile to their face, or shift their mood. A simple welcome can start a chain reaction of positive contacts and make all the difference.

National Ballpoint Pen Day is celebrated today and is a rather fun and whimsical holiday. This day encourages us to honor this humble product that is found everywhere, in our homes, schools, art studios, offices, etc. Almost everyone has used a ballpoint pen once in their life and, for many, it holds a special place in their pen holder.

National Meal Prep Day, today, is quickly becoming an important global holiday. Meal preparation is sometimes ignored as to-do lists and work schedules continue to impact lifestyle choices. However, specialists continue to believe that it is the ideal scroll for healthy living. Yet, with the effort of cooking always competing with the cost of quick takeaway meals, many people question whether meal planning is worthwhile. While planning meals ahead of time may appear to be a difficult task, the advantages are usually lucrative when done correctly. This year’s National Meal Prep Day is a great chance for people to get some tips on how to save time and money by “meal-prepping” in advance.

Whether they’re near or far, old or new, best friends help to carry us through our lives. Today, National Best Friends Day, it’s time to tell them how much we appreciate their company. As the Mayo Clinic reports: “Friends help you cope with traumas, such as divorce, serious illness, job loss, or the death of a loved one. They also encourage you to change or avoid unhealthy lifestyle habits, such as excessive drinking or lack of exercise.” Today’s the day to enjoy a little one-on-one time with the people who never fail to catch us when we fall.

World Caring Day, today, is an opportunity for everyone to practice caring, which is needed now more than ever. The day encourages everyone to appreciate those who care, and to care for them just as much. By sincerely asking how someone’s day went, it shows that you care, and can improve that person’s overall well-being. And in today’s competitive world, having someone who genuinely cares is a blessing. All acts of caring—big or small—are important, however, it is in times of upheaval when caring matters the most. For instance, when someone is facing health issues or a certain medical condition, that’s when your support and care can really make a difference. Your loved ones should know that they are not alone on this journey.

D-Day brings overwhelming memories of the brave men and women who fought a strategically planned and well-executed battle that ultimately led to the end of the Second World War. More than 75 years after the end of World War II, these memories remain fresh to the over 300,000 living U.S. veterans of the war. The rest of us look to their legacy and the rich history of events told through museums and memorials. There is not a more important time than today for us to remember and honor them as we reflect on D-Day, June 6, 1944.
