Celebrate Recovery- Pathway Brunswick A Christ- Centered Recovery program for all types of addictions, habits and hang-ups

Celebrate Recovery is a place where people with hurts, habits, hang-ups and addictions gather to experience and celebrate God's healing power through eight recovery principles and the Christ-centered 12 steps. This experience opens the door to change as we share our experiences, strengths and hopes with one another. In addition, we become willing to accept God's grace in solving our life problems.

I've had people tell me in the past that they can deal with their addiction alone, that they are too proud to need other people.

My question has always been, "Why would you want to do it alone when you could walk out your freedom with support from others?"

If the only voice that you rely on is your own, you are bound to get tripped up when the triggers seem insurmountable. We need the wisdom of others who have walked out sobriety to support, encourage and exhort us.

For my personal journey, relying on myself only puts me in a spiral of insecurity and failure. Relying on Jesus first and putting trust in others for the guidance they can bring has brought me to a place of peace, healing and freedom.

If you are out there, white-knuckling through recovery, I want to invite you to join us on Thursday evenings at 6 PM. Test it out and see what the benefit is of sharing your journey with others who accept and support you.

Come join us on Thursday, February 19th, for a guest testimony offered by Lorna! This is a great time to hear of the hope to be gained by trusting Jesus as your Higher Power and working the steps of recovery!

If you have been one the fence at all as to whether CR can provide you a way to walk forward into a better future, to let go of the habits or addictions that are holding you back-this is a great week to answer that question!

Dinner is served at 6 PM! Hope to see you there!

Hi CR Family!

We are quickly approaching Christmas! It's a lovely time to contemplate what the birth of Jesus means to us and to find time to celebrate with people we love.

It can also be a stressful time of rushing, grieving, striving and being confronted by things that push our recovery buttons. This morning I was trying to bury the feelings that were pressing in on me that conflict with how I really feel about Christmas. You know, being sad about some things that are not the way they used to be, pressure about getting stuff done-I could go on and on. This is usually accompanied by internal conversations with myself that add to the stress.

This morning, I clearly heard the Lord say, "you are leaving me out of that conversation. Why?"

I had to admit I was, and then let myself unburden things to Him because he wants to be part of that conversation with me. The love and grace the Lord poured out on me during that conversation gave me the desire to stand straighter, be my normal happy self and trust him with the rest.

So-is there any conversation that you are leaving the Lord out of? He wants to talk with you. You will feel better when you open your heart to him.

As you walk out recovery, periodically you have to ask yourself, "What am I holding onto?" When you raise your hands in surrender to Jesus, are they wrapped in strings attached to your old habits, hang-ups and addictions? Do you have little things in life that you have not dealt with that are throwbacks to the old you?

We all have to watch and guard against denial creeping back in. Be honest with yourself, with God and someone you trust. Give those character defects over to God, daily. Build a structure in your life directed by him where all of those old things that weighed you down in the past stay at the foot of the cross.

Part of that structure is staying engaged with regular meetings-see you on Thursday!

We will see you all next week!!

Don’t forget-accountability partners and sponsors are really important during the holiday season to help us meet challenges in our recovery head on.

Have you heard of Celebrate Recovery but didn't know if it would help you?

Let me tell you about my friend, John. I was greeting in the lobby when he first visited our CR group. He had a look of fear on his face, and he quietly filled out a name tag and went into the meeting room. Shyness and low self-worth hung about his shoulders like a shroud.

After a short time, he began to relax and he learned that God loves him and he was making friends. When he walked into the group, people knew his name and were happy to see him. He began to share with the men's group, got into a step study and started to receive that healing that he needed. He was asked to co-lead another step study and just kept on learning and growing.

Now you can find John at CR as a leader, ushering at church where he helps people find a seat in a packed auditorium, and helping out at countless volunteer events. His face is always smiling and his friendliness is the first thing you see when you meet him.

That is how God can heal and that is how CR can help!

See you Thursday?
