John 9 tells us that Jesus healed a man born blind by making mud and placing it on his eyes. The action feels strange to modern readers, but John often uses physical signs to reveal who Jesus is.

The mud invites us to remember Genesis, where God formed the man from the dust of the ground. Jesus does not heal from a sterile distance here. He uses earth, moisture, touch, and command. The Creator is near enough to enter the mess of human need.

We should be careful with the mystery of the man's blindness. Jesus specifically refuses the easy assumption that his condition was a simple punishment for someone's sin. Instead, the works of God would be displayed in him. The point is not to explain every disability or suffering with one sentence, but to behold Christ bringing light where there had been darkness.

Jesus could have spoken a word only. Instead, He knelt into the dust. That matters pastorally. The Lord's power is not cold. His restoration is personal. He is willing to touch what others might avoid.

If your life feels unfinished, bring that ache to Christ. The Creator is still gentle with dust. He knows how to restore sight, hope, and dignity with hands full of mercy.
