Tedford housing had their outdoor dedication today. Nature is nurture – building supportive connections to the natural world. They have a lovely playground, a beautiful mural done by Pat Corrigan, gardens, and paths. Pictures are limited due to respecting people‘s privacy.

Tedford is doing great things. Four families and five adults have found permanent housing since it opened. Brunswick Umc is proud to be a partner in this endeavor.

Note the sign that says diapers and wipes needed. Please place any in the care bucket in our foyer and it will be delivered to Tedford housing. Note the size and thank you for taking care of our community.

Brunswick UMC is participating in Brunswick Pride on June 13 with six other churches collectively called Q***r Spirit. One of the activities that was very successful last year was passing out small cups of rainbow candy salad made up of Nerds Gummy Clusters, Skittles, jellybeans, and Airheads Extreme bites. Each church is contributing to this candy salad and donations are needed! Please, place your donation in the CARE can. Thank you!

If you missed the altar art this morning, it was done by some of the children during a recent children’s ministry time and covered with resin by Shari. Absolutely beautiful! What a creative bunch of children. Thank you Shari!

Mother’s Day is complicated. Here is Rev. A’s special Mother’s Day prayer for all the women and femmes in our lives:

Holy One,
we gather in your presence to give you thanks
and to celebrate the gift of your motherly love,
both gentle and fierce,
both strong and humble,
both kind and true.

Your love has given birth to the whole of creation,
supports and nurtures us,
cares enough to nudge us in the right direction when we remain open to it,
and challenges us in ways that strengthen and transform us.

We offer you praise and thanksgiving for your unfailing presence in our lives
and for all of the blessings you so generously offer us.

Lord in your mercy,
ALL: hear our prayer.

Loving God, we thank you for the gift of motherhood and for the many examples of mothers in scripture, like Hagar, Sarah, Naomi, Ruth, Elizabeth, Mary, and Lois & Eunice.
We celebrate all those who have nurtured and cared for us,
remembering especially, birth mothers, adoptive mothers,
surrogate mothers, aunts, grandmothers,
teachers, neighbors, and all the women and femmes we have known who have taught us about life and living.

Lord in your mercy,
ALL: hear our prayer.

God of generations,
thank you for the gift of faith kindled and rekindled in us through the years.
And thank you for those who have taught us authentic faith in sincerity and love.

Today, we give special thanks and praise for our church mothers,
the women who, like Timothy’s mother and grandmother,
steadily and without much recognition
teach a new generation of children and adults about the love of Jesus.

And we celebrate the matriarchs
who build up with compassion and strong shoulders
Equally strong and smart young women and femmes,
revealing a deep spiritual life and love
woven into the fabric of our church family.

Lord in your mercy,
ALL: hear our prayer.

God of compassion and joy,
we know motherhood is a wide spectrum
In you our life and love together is big enough to stand in solidarity with all your daughters, regardless of age, identity, or parental status.

We lift up all the women in our lives,
All those who nurture life and creativity,
All who claim womanhood and its complexity and beauty.
All those with children and those childless by choice.

Lord in your mercy,
ALL: hear our prayer.

And we especially pray today for the women who ache to be mothers but struggle to conceive,
For the mothers of children conceived but not born,
For the mothers who held their children close only to say goodbye too soon,
For the mothers who unselfishly chose a different life for their children,
For the mothers who struggle to be different from their own mothers,
And for the mothers who struggle to be the same,
For the women who bravely forge their own paths in the face of a society which
does not share their vision for themselves,
For the seen and unseen grief and struggles of women and mothers everywhere,
we ache with you.
For the seen and unseen joys of womanhood and motherhood,
we rejoice and celebrate with you.

Lord, in your mercy,
ALL: hear our prayer.
