Upward at Cornerstone

Upward Families:

A bummer to miss a game on Saturday, but we'll get a chance to have an "official scrimmage" which will be like a game experience during practice tomorrow night.

All players should come to practice with their uniforms on. The first half of our time will be practice and the last part will be our scrimmage.

Each practice field has 2 teams, so we'll look to have half the time in practice and then the last half will be an "official scrimmage" with the other team on your field. To make things easier, lets have all teams on the North end, (closer to the church in RED and those to the South in BLUE. Teams can practice in uniforms.

The Gladiators and Gators will be RED and the Pirates and Falcons will be BLUE. (East-West facing fields).

Your coach should let you know any other details. See you all tomorrow for some Monday Night Soccer!

Upward Families:

We’ve got our first practice of the season tomorrow night starting at 6pm! All teams will be practicing at Cornerstone and will have an assigned field space. Check the practice map attached to see where your team(s) will be. This location will be the same for the entire season.

There will be a representative at the pavilion to help with questions you might have. There will be some cleats and soccer equipment that’s been donated from seasons past, but ready for a new season. We will also have copies of our “Away Game” book for each family playing Upward with us this season. There’s already been lots of positive feedback from the families that have read it!

If you were unable to attend our Meet the Coach Night, your player boxes will be at your field for you.

All players should wear shin guards to practice. Cleats are encouraged but optional.

BIG day for Upward Soccer at Cornerstone! Today is the deadline to sign up for our fall season. Be sure to tell your friends, neighbors and relatives to join in on all the fun this year! For registration information, dates and more visit our webpage.

Tonight is our only Evaluation night of the summer. It’s an opportunity for our players and families to get to know our Upward League volunteers and coaches, try some drills, and have some fun. Players will only need to attend one evaluation. Evaluations are not "try-outs." These evaluations are not mandatory, but encouraged & Not required for STARS players. Evaluations will take place at Cornerstone Christian Church on Monday, June 8 and players/families can come any time from 6-8pm like an open house. Just come in door 7 first to check in, verify your information and get your evaluation sheets.

In the event of bad weather, we’ll still have the inside of the church open for sign-ups, a place for families to pick up some gently used cleats, shin guards, other soccer items and your “Away Game” book that every family gets as a part of the league this year.

Upward Families:

A reminder that we will have only one Evaluation date this year. Evaluations aren't try-outs, but a great way for us to get to know you, (players & families) and for you all to get to know us and our program. This is also very helpful for us as we put together our teams for the new season as we look to make our teams fun for everyone.

Evaluation day will be held at Cornerstone on Monday, June 8 from 6pm to 8pm. Evaluations are not required for our 3s, but can be a great introduction to soccer.

Our deadline for registration for the fall season is June 8 at the close of evaluations.

Something that we’re REALLY excited about this year is that every family that signs up for Upward at Cornerstone this season will receive a copy of the book, “Away Game” by Brian Smith and Ed Uszynski. This book is a Christian parent’s guide to navigate youth sports. In addition to the book, we’ll provide a 12-week study guide and access to the authors’ podcasts.
