National Governors' Prayer Team

National Governors' Prayer Team Let your Governor and all those authority in your state know you are praying for them. It is a message that we can not carry alone. Putting feet to our prayers.

The National Governors' Prayer Team is a cooperative effort of individuals, independent Christian ministries and businesses working together to intercede for and on behalf of all those in authority including the position Governor in their state. We are excited that the Call to Prayer for America is being answered by so many individuals and organizations across our nation. You can help by serving a

s a NGPT Coordinator in your area. Our collective commitment to pray for this nation forms a powerful blanket of prayer around America and surrounding Territories. Prayer leaders and intercessors alike are mobilizing monthly at the local county court houses across our nation and quarterly in the State Houses of our capitol cities for prayer and encouragement. We are reclaiming the chapels, the places of worship that where once common in these buildings. Taking back the land and reestablishing our nations rich Christian heritage! OUR 2014 SCRIPTURE FOCUS IS... 2 Chronicles 7:14

14 if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.

Please welcome Dr David J Rogers as the newly installed Alabama State Prayer Leader, National Governors Prayer Team.

Dr David J Rogers – bio

Dr Rogers is the Director and Board Secretary for RiversEdge International Fellowship, which includes Global Prayer International, and Executive Director for Bethel Grace Ministries, which includes Capitol Prayer Ministries, Manna in the Word, and Hands Together in Prayer. Dr Rogers has served in various roles in the church and in the business world prior to moving to Montgomery, Alabama, to be a part of what God is doing with RiversEdge Church and RiversEdge International Fellowship, REIF Global.

Dr Rogers served 6 years in the United States Navy in electronics specialties. In 1990, Dr Rogers gave his work career to the Lord and began serving in business and in the Church; since then, he has worked as leadership and senior management roles for a Forbes Top 200 private company, Fortune Top 100 companies, and other companies. During those same years, Dr Rogers served in churches in the Dallas, Texas area wherever needed in technical, media, administrative, small group leadership, teaching, and ministry roles. In 2014, Dr Rogers and his wife, Alicia, moved to Charleston, South Carolina to pioneer a church and ministry there. After three years of serving the Church and the community in the Lowcountry Area, they felt God was moving them again. After meeting with Dr Eddie and Joyce Mitchell and praying for God’s direction, Dr Rogers saw God planting his feet in Montgomery, Alabama. They moved in 2017 and plugged in locally to see what God would do next.

Dr Rogers works with REIF Global and Global Prayer in creating Zoom prayer meetings with prayer leaders from around the globe. Current meetings are Capitol Prayer, Global Prayer Fridays, REIF Africa, REIF Caribbean, REIF South Asia, REiF ES. America, REIF North America, and REIF Prayer; with others in the works. Dr Rogers leads at RiversEdge Church Montgomery in administration, audio-visual ministry, and the Wednesday-in-the-Word Plus teaching and prayer ministry, raising up teachers in the house, and in associate pastor roles. Dr Rogers is developing Montgomery Bible College and Seminary to develop the next generation of Bible teachers and scholars. Dr Rogers works with Dr Eddie Mitchell as executive producers for the RiversEdge Today broadcast on True Word Network that reaches central Alabama, North America via satellite, and the world via internet broadcast through website presence and social media sharing.

Dr Rogers recently accepted the leadership role for National Governors Prayer Team - Alabama, and will work with leaders and prayer intercessors around the state on behalf of Alabama, the Governor and Governor's office, the State Assembly, and the State Judiciary.

Qualifications of the prayer leader
How to Select & Empower Your Local Church Prayer Leader
Cheryl Sacks

1. The prayer leader should be called of God as one with special gifting and desire to pray. He/she must exhibit a strong personal prayer life in order to lead with authority. You can only lead people to the depth in prayer you have gone yourself.

2. He/she should exhibit proven leadership skills. It is often difficult to find a person who is both an intercessor and a leader, but it is essential that a prayer leader possess both qualities. Many pastors have made the mistake of selecting as a prayer leader the person in the congregation who has the greatest desire to pray. This may not be the best person for the job. Unless he/she also possesses qualified leadership skill, he/she will not be able to mobilize others to pray and the prayer ministry often never gets of the ground.

3. He/she must show proven spiritual maturity.

4. The prayer leader must be committed to the pastor as a leader and to the vision and purpose of the church.

5. He/she should have a good reputation in the congregation and the confidence of your church leadership.

6. The prayer leaders must have the ability to lead or learn to lead small group and corporate prayer.

7. It is helpful but not necessary if the prayer leader has the ability to teach.

8. He/she must be a team player. Much of the success of the prayer ministry will depend upon the prayer leader's ability to develop and work with a prayer team.

9. He she must have enough time to coordinate the activities of the prayer ministry and attend key prayer events in the church and the community.

10. The prayer leader should have a teachable spirit with the time and desire to become further trained in his/her prayer ministry in the church.

Responsibilities of the prayer leader

The responsibilities of the prayer leader are determined by the pastor and or his/her designee. Following are some responsibilities that the prayer leader may fill, initiate or oversee:

• Identifies key people in the church who are willing to pray or serve in leadership in the prayer ministry and enlists their support.
• Establishes a strategic prayer committee and serves as chairman of the committee. (The leadership responsibilities of the prayer ministry are divided among the members of the prayer committee.)
• Serves as a liaison between the pastor and church leadership and the prayer committee.
• Assists the pastoral staff in raising up their personal intercessory prayer support teams.
• Works with the prayer committee and church leadership to establish prayer for the corporate services.
• Works with the pastor and prayer committee in developing a mission statement for the prayer ministry and prayer strategy for the church.
• Assists with the development of a prayer chain.
• Establishes a resource library on prayer.
• Works with Sunday School teachers and small group leaders to provide training, materials and resources for their prayer curriculum.
• Helps plan and organize special prayer events in the church (i.e. prayer conferences, workshops, National Day of Prayer, etc.).
• Helps raise up and train prayer leaders who can establish and lead small group prayers.
• Works with prayer committee and church leadership to set up a prayer room in the church.
• Develops an information network to keep everyone informed of prayer concerns.
• Serves as a liaison between the local church and the other churches of the city in cooperative prayer efforts.
