Grimr Grimr So what is Grimr? Is it a religion? Not really. Is it a tradition? It's not really old enough to be called that yet. Is it a system? It is a way of living.

Yes, but much more than that. It is a mythos, a pathos, an ethos, and a logos. It is a way of looking at the world. Though many of the public terms in Grimr are Nordic or Germanic in origin, Grimr isn't a Norse or Germanic "tradition". It isn't a reconstructed "tradition". It isn't heathen or pagan or monotheist or polytheist, in any real sense. It draws from traditions all around the world, but i

sn't of them. It looks at the Truth behind them. All traditions and religions are but masks of the Truth behind it, the Nagara. Grimr is its own thing, organic, dynamic, always growing and shrinking, always changing. In essence, Grimr is Change and Paradox. The Tao begot one. One begot two. Two begot three. And three begot the ten thousand things. The ten thousand things carry yin and embrace yang. They achieve harmony by combining these forces.

~Tao Te Ching, Chapter 42

The Nagara is one. The Nagara is the Dancers. The Dancers are two. The Dancers are the Weavers, the Grimr. The Weavers are three. The Weavers are the Builders and the Watchers, the ten thousand things. The Nagara is one and in unity, stable, unchanging, all in all, all of all. "One is one and all alone and ever more shall be it so." The Dancers are dynamic, Catalyst and Nexus. In their dance are the patterns, the cycles, the chaos, the order, the constant movement and Change that is our world, our life, all life. They are eternal Change and Paradox. They are the Thief and the Locksmith, the Fool and the Heirophant, Nexus and Catalyst, the Hermit and the King. They are lovers and rivals, playmates and enemies. Opposites yet the same. The Weavers are the Three Mothers. They direct our lives, yet give us freedom. They are Fate, Destiny, Necessity. They are silent guides, yet all is directed by them. Three hooded figures stand watch. Except when there's more than three. "The Three Mothers, are the Foundation, from them spring three Fathers, and from these have proceeded all things that are in the world." The Builders are the Architects and Guides of our world. They are wardens, guardians, and teachers of those who would be taught, but architects and movers of the world around. There are not many of them, yet they are many. Far off but intimately close. They hold the markers and guideposts that mark the way. They are the anchor in the storm of the Dancers and Weavers. The Watchers are many. Bright and shining, like sparks floating in the Outer Dark. They are always present yet we see them not. They are in all things, of all things, from all things. They are countless but can be counted, they are limitless yet limited. We experience them every day, but seldom notice them. There is no us without them, but there is no them without us. They are legion. Grimr is the play and interaction, the experience and power, of these powers, of the Nagara and the Dancers, of the Weavers and the Builders, of the Watchers and all that is. Let he who has eyes see and he who has ears hear, open yourself to what is beyond, step out of your comfortable apathy, remember what you once knew, understand and open like a flower as the first rays of the rising sun fall on your petals. Open, and be.

Penumbral Light is a collection of poems that came out of my interactions with that place I know as the Gloom, and the place beyond, the Gleam. These are but fragments of places, or beings, or shadows.

The problem many people have understanding God and the Devil, by whatever name, and their contest, if you will, their game, especially in a craft context, is that they assume the game is a zero-sum game.

Michael Cole found out that the strange symbols on the barn door he owns in rural Suffolk (pictured) were actually ancient signs used to ward off evil spirits. It began a descent into a dark world.

No matter what the white washing shows, Boulder and Golden are and will always be mining towns, even with the mining gone. Longmont is and will always be a farm town. Loveland is and will always be a sugar beet town. Laramie is and will always be a railroad town. And Denver will always be Cow Town, even with the lulling of the cattle only echoing in almost forgotten memory. Cities never forget. They grow, they change, but the spirit remains, and the spirit remembers. Memory is in the bones of the city, just as it is in our bones, and the blood of daily living enlivens the bones and keeps the memories alive.
