I'm excited to tell you about the second annual Ithaca Christian Youth (ICY) Retreat! The first one was great last year, and I believe the upcoming one will be even better and bigger than the last one. The theme of this year's retreat is "ComeUNITY." The emphasis will be on building community within the retreat as a catalyst for community after the retreat in which Christian youth will build each other up and reach out to others.
Here are some things to look forward to:
1. Great speaker: Kaynnen Parker will return as the speaker! Those of you who went to last year's retreat know that he is a funny, compassionate guy with solid biblical teaching who is effective in motivating people to serve the Lord. He even raps before he preaches! But he's also very approachable to meet up with him between talks - to joke around with, play sports with or have serious discussion. http://websterbiblechurch.org/about-us/leadership-team/
2. Fun activities: Including paintball (hopefully this year, it will be warm enough to play!), indoor wall climbing, indoor gym (basketball, volleyball, etc.) gaga ball, snow tubing, recreation room (pool table, ping pong, foosball, etc.)
3. Opportunity to build friendships with other local Christian youth. At this retreat, you will get the chance to know other Christians from your school and build friendships with them. You also can make friendships with youth from other local schools and meet with them during the year as well. Our desire is to build a strong Christian youth community that can help each other keep their faith and share that faith with others.
4. Opportunity to gain wisdom from an older brother or sister in Christ: Every youth has a one-on-one talk with a counselor. Last year this was the highlight for many of the campers.
5. Grow closer to God. This is the most important reason to attend. The sermons, the worship music, the friendships are all designed to help you grow closer to God.
