This is Agnes Ozman, (later, Labarge). She was a young student - one of 40 that made up the enrollment at Bethel Bible College in Topeka, Kansas. On January 1, 1901 Agnes ask Charles Parham to lay hands on her head and pray that she might receive the baptism of the Holy Ghost.

When this happened, Agnes began speaking in other tongues (languages). While she spoke in various dialects, Chinese seemed to be the most predominant language during this experience - which lasted for approximately three days. When given paper and pen to describe her immediate situation, Agnes began to write in what appeared to be Chinese.

Washburn University was just one mile from where the Holy Spirit had fallen. Bilingual professors from the college had read in the newspapers about the emerging outpouring, and went to investigate. Upon their arrival they were able to identify and understand her dominant tongue to be in Mandarin Chinese.
