The Church of the Virgin Mary is an Eastern Rite Catholic parish of the Melkite Catholic Eparchy of Newton. Our rich liturgical tradition is experienced in the Divine Liturgy of Saint John Chrysostom, community prayer, the celebration of the sacraments, and immersion in the mystical experience of Byzantine iconic art that adorns our church. We are a parish family of diverse backgrounds founded ove

Today is the Feast of the Divine Body, also known by its Latin name, Corpus Christi. Divine Liturgy, Adoration & Benediction will be celebrated tonight at the Church of the Virgin Mary starting at 7:00 pm.

The feast was adopted by Melkites in the 19th century following the protection of Zahle, Lebanon, from a devastating plague in 1825. At that time a Eucharistic procession was organized by the local bishop to implore divine protection from the ravages of the plague and the city was sparred. Last year the Melkites (and many others) celebrated the 200 year anniversary of that event with the annual procession in Zahle led by Patriarch Youssef.

Where do you begin? His entire life was dedicated to the mission of the Messiah and service to His church. Papa Francesco returned to our Father's house one year ago yesterday, April 20, 2025. Last evening, on the first anniversary of his departure, we celebrated the Divine Liturgy in an atmosphere of solemnity and recollection with his glorification our intention and petition. May his memory be eternal and may he be numbered among the saints.
