Come on, everybody, give God some praise⦠ā WE MADE IT!
Recovery Church Movement-Brooklyn Church.
Pastor Bryantās speech:
Look around for a moment. Look at all these people who just walked together for recovery, hope, healing, mental health, our families, and our community.
Welcome to the 2nd Annual Brooklyn Recovery Church Recovery Walk!
We walked here today, but this was about much more than getting from one place to another.
Every step told a story.
Somebody walked today because theyāre in recovery.
Somebody walked because they love somebody whoās struggling.
Somebody walked in memory of somebody they lost.
Somebody walked because mental health has affected their family.
And somebody may have walked today who hasnāt told anybody yet, āI need help.ā
Thatās why weāre here.
We want you to know that you are not alone, help is available, recovery is possible, and there is hope.
Our theme comes from 2 Corinthians 5:7:
āFor we walk by faith, not by sight.ā
And Isaiah 40:31 reminds us:
āBut they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.ā
Isnāt that what recovery is about?
Sometimes you canāt run. Sometimes you canāt fly. Sometimes all you can do is walk.
But the important thing is ā DONāT STOP!
Take another step when life gets difficult.
Take another step when youāre discouraged.
Take another step when people donāt understand.
One day at a time. One decision at a time. One step at a time.
And today we took those steps together.
Now the Celebration Begins!
The walking part may be over, but the journey continuesā¦.
We had some wonderful speakers and guests who shared with us. Weāheard stories of hope, information about recovery and mental wellness, and we recognized people and organizations that continue to serve our community.
I want to personally thank every recovery organization, church, community-based organization, volunteer, family member, sponsor, supporter, and friend who helped make today possible. NYS OASAS who provided prevention bags and information.
And I especially want to celebrate the recovery community!
If you have one day, we celebrate you.
If you have one month, we celebrate you.
If you have one year, we celebrate you.
If you have 10, 20, 30 years or more, we celebrate you.
Because none of us graduates from recovery. We keep walking.
And as someone in long term recovery myself, I havenāt forgotten where I came from.
Iām standing here because somebody believed I could recover. Somebody prayed. Somebody helped. And most importantly, God gave me another chance at life.
Thatās why Brooklyn Recovery Church is out here today.
Weāre not here to judge anybody.
Weāre not here to tell you how bad youāve been.
Weāre here to tell you how good God is and that your story does not have to end where you are!
Addiction doesnāt get the final word.
Depression doesnāt get the final word.
Your past doesnāt get the final word.
Your mistakes donāt get the final word.
God gets the final word!
So enjoy yourselves. Visit the tables. Meet the organizations. Get information. Encourage somebody. And engage the speakers and donāt forget the testimonies you heard today.
Because somebodyās story may be exactly what somebody else needs to hear to make it one more day.
Once again, welcome to the 2nd Annual Brooklyn Recovery Church Recovery Walk Celebration!
We walked by faith.
We walked for recovery.
We walked for our families.
We walked for those who couldnāt walk today.
And now weāre going to celebrate what God has done ā and what we believe Heās still going to do!
God bless you, and continue to carry the message but most of all spread the gospel of Jesus Christ!!!!!
Amen
