1 Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. 2 This is what the ancients were commended for. 3 By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible. ~Hebrews 11
I believe the last time I sat down to recall and share my notes from a sermon from Rev. Anderson was just after the COVID pandemic when we were trying to figure out our new lives. Many, many things have occurred in that time. Even with all the people that were lost to that horrible virus the years that followed changed the world even more. There were adjustments and eventually full-on changes made to how we did things and operated in our daily lives. The one thing that, I think, had to get stronger through it all was our faith! Life still had to go on, life still went on; faith kept it moving! We’ve been reexamining faith by looking at the many examples in the bible; starting at Genesis 1 when God’s faith in what he was creating led to the breath of life breathed into Adam to Abel whose faith made him give his best to Noah who followed God’s commands and directions to the letter to carry out God’s plan to continue with man and not just wipe us out. Every person in the “Faith Hall of Fame” walked in God’s will.
This past Sunday there was a discussion about the uneasiness of a decision that needs to be made. Pastor stated, “When faith pushes us, we feel sick (uneasy, flip floppy, unsure -my words 😊) because we are used to having a plan (being in control). Faith is about having no control; no control over how the thing you are hoping for will play out or show up. Pastor suggested that we need to understand our faithfulness is going to affect some relationships, those relationships need to be stretched and grow (or even be let go). In other words, you have to be faithful to what God is putting on your heart, go not knowing but believing God. God created everything with his word and created a way for everything to be what it is supposed to be. God’s got you!
